NYCC 2025: Walmart Expands its Foot in Collectibles and Comic Book Culture

Walmart is pushing its presence at New York Comic Con 2025 where it’s “opening a whole new universe for collectors and fans.”
You can find the big box retailer at booth #2821 at the convention taking place October 9-12.
Walmart is debuting limited-edition comic books—created in direct collaboration with the likes of DC, Marvel, Image, and Skybound—as giveaways and prizes throughout the event, only at our booth. Collectors know not all covers are created equal and many of the comics we’re giving away are the kind of print runs that disappear fast and get talked about for years. Highlights include:
- Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1, Virgin—500 copies by artist Biliquis Evely, Trade Dress—limited to 1000. And writer Tom King will be in our booth on Sunday, Oct. 12, signing copies.
- Usagi Yojimbo 1984 #1 Ashcan, by artist Stan Sakai limited to 750. Stan will be at the Walmart booth on Saturday, Oct. 11, signing copies.
- Marvel Zombies #1 (Covers A-D), limited to 1000 per cover.
- Transformers #25, by artist Jae Lee. Limited to 750.
- G.I Joe #321, cover by artist Jae Lee, a reprint from a silent version from the 1980s. Limited to 750.
- A VeeFriends special story edition comic book and sticker pack, capped at 7,500 bundles. Founder Gary Vee will appear on a live stream and sign copies at our booth on Thursday, Oct. 9.
- An exclusive McFarlane toy and comic set. Todd McFarlane will appear on a live stream and later sign copies at our booth on Friday, Oct. 10.
Walmart has also announced Shotboxed has launched on Walmart Marketplace. Shortboxed features a a catalog of more than 75,000 books from thousands of sellers—including top dealers and comic shops such as Reece’s Rare Comics, Harley Yee Rare Comics, Graham Crackers Comics, Worldwide Comics, Cape & Cowl Comics, and Heroes Comics—Shortboxed will feature a large portion of those on Walmart Marketplace making it easier than ever for fans to discover, buy, and sell comics they love.
