Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!
Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in
Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!
Find think below, and what comics you should be looking out for
Blade Forger #1 (Mad Cave Studios) – Inaki Miranda and Roy Miranda have rocked it with previous releases and we’re crossing our fingers they hit that storytelling magic again.
Darkwing Duck Vol. 2 #1 (Dynamite Entertainment) – The previous volume was fantastic and we’re big Darkwing fans!
Doctor Strange of Asgard #1 (Marvel) – Strange goes to Asgard to be their Sorcerer Supreme and gets caught in a murder mystery.
Herculoids #1 (Dynamite Entertainment) – The classic cartoon comes to comics and we’re crossing our fingers it’s close to as good as other recent Dynamite launches.
Secret Six #1 (DC Comics) – Amanda Waller was sent to prison at the end of Absolute Power, but she’s somehow vanished into thin air from her cell. We’re intrigued and hope it has a fraction of the awesome character dysfunction of past teams.
Space Ghost #10 (Dynamite Entertainment) – One of the best monthly comics on the shelves right now. Great art and great storytelling has brought new life to the classic property.
Teen Titans Go #1 (DC Comics) – Say it ain’t so! The Titans’ comic book–canceled?! Desperate for a relaunch, the Titans remake themselves as everything from transforming robots to artsy, black-and-white indie comics characters. But when DC still doesn’t bite, the Titans turn to more drastic measures…like sabotage. That just sounds awesome.
The Ultimates #10 (Marvel) – The series has been fantastic and really building with each issue. Marvel’s Ultimate Universe is one of the best out there right now.
You Must Take Part in Revolution (Street Noise Books) – It’s 2035. The US and China are at war. America is a proto-fascist state. Taiwan is divided into two. As conflict escalates between nuclear powers, three idealistic youths who first met in Hong Kong develop diverging beliefs about how best to navigate this techno-authoritarian landscape. Andy, Maggie, and Olivia travel different paths toward transformative change, each confronting to what extent they will fight for freedom, and who they will become in doing so.
