Crowdfunding Corner: Planet of the Apes Role-Playing Game is Now Live on Kickstarter
The age of Apes has arrived. Magnetic Press has launched their feature-filled pre-order campaign for the official tabletop Role-Playing Game based on 20th Century Studios’ world-renowned property, The Planet of the Apes on Kickstarter. The campaign launches in the wake of the newest feature film in the storied franchise that debuted on May 10th.
Planet of the Apes: The Role-Playing Game is now available for pre-order with numerous incentives and bonus items available only through this event, including exclusive gaming materials, miniature gameplay piece sets, physical in-world artifacts to assist role play, and other bonus enhancements that will only be available only with pre-orders.
The deluxe 308-page hardcover CORE RULEBOOK features cover artwork by legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz, containing all of the rules, statistics, and lore necessary to introduce new players to the world of Planet of the Apes. A separate 300+ page hardcover sourcebook, THE ANSA FILES, provides references and resources specific to the classic films and novels. Two limited-edition Slipcase Sets containing both hardcovers are also available in two collectible levels of exclusivity, the ultimate of the two versions including premium design materials and signatures by both lead designer Andrew E.C. Gaska and Bill Sienkiewicz.
Fans can further supplement their gaming experience with the FORBIDDEN ZONE Campaign Adventure Box which contains an assortment of supplemental tools and content to help players explore this dangerous world. Contents include a complete campaign adventure book, two poster sized maps and player markers, a set of 12 thematic “Alpha and Omega” 6-sided dice, a 3-panel LAWGIVER Reference Screen with handy tables, and a deck of game statistic reference cards.
Of most interest to fans will certainly be the RUINS OF TOMORROW Miniatures Set – 20 detailed plastic playing pieces that capture the various character types available to play or encounter within the game, both ape and human, for strategic tabletop gameplay. Additional sets of plastic playing pieces will be revealed throughout the campaign as unlockable “stretch goals” are achieved. Such unlockable additions include a set of ANSA astronauts and their crashed Spaceship, a Statue of Liberty dice tower, and many other character types and locations featured in the original films. Other immersive bonuses will also be available to unlock during the campaign’s 30-day duration.
The campaign will run through Friday July 12th.
Game design is built on Magnetic’s D6MV System, a modern update of the classic D6 System of role-playing rules originally made popular by West End Games with the first official STAR WARS RPG, MEN IN BLACK RPG, and GHOSTBUSTERS RPG.
