The Marvel Digital Comics Shop is Closing on June 2

Marvel has sent out a rather surprising (or maybe not) email letting customers know that the Marvel Digital Comics Shop is closing. While Marvel and DC are expanding their digital offerings, it’s a little strange that this is happening. The public has been increasing their online digital media purchases during this time of pandemic, so to close a purchasing option seems odd.

After June 2nd, you’ll need to to purchase Marvel digital comics and read existing Marvel digital comics through the Marvel Comics app and comiXology.

There’s a good posibility that most purchases are just happening between the Marvel comics app and comiXology so there’s no need for a web based digital store.

Below is more information via the email.

To purchase Marvel digital comics after June 2nd:

To read your existing Marvel digital comics library after June 2nd:

  • View your past purchases in “My Books” when you log into your account on the Marvel Comics app, and/or
  • Sync your current Marvel Digital Comics Shop account with a comiXology account to continue to read your books on a web browser

Please note:

  • You can continue to redeem digital comic codes at Marvel.com/redeem and view your comics in the Marvel Comics app.
  • Only purchases made through the Marvel Comics app will be eligible to earn Marvel Insider points.
