Review: Last Stop on the Red Line #2

Last Stop on the Red Line #2

In the second issue of Last Stop On The Red Line, we find our protagonist watching over his back, not knowing where and when the phantom killer will strike next. Another passenger falls victim to the phantom killer on the Boston Orange Line. This sparks Detective Torres and her new partner to investigate evidence which incriminates Yusef. Meanwhile, Yusef must control his unearthly visions while on the run to avoid being captured by the determined detectives.

We find Mr. Lyons, as he looks for distractions in his day job as a teacher, where he finds some solace. We also catch up with Detective Torres and meet Detective Ben Damon, who has joined her, to investigate the evidence, which makes Yusuf guilty of the murders on the Orange Line. As Yusuf, attempts to find relief from his unearthly visions, an APB gets put out on someone matching his description, making the most wanted man in Boston. By issue’s end, Torres catches up with Yusuf, only to be caught up in one of his visions come true.

Overall, an interesting alternate world story where humans and supernatural creatures exist in a seemingly normal world. The story by Paul Maybury is evenly paced and well characterized. The art by the creative team is beautiful. Altogether, a story that gets the reader off-balance but gives them enough to stay on this wild ride.
