Baltimore Comic-Con Gets a Mascot — And You Name Him!

The 20th annual Baltimore Comic-Con will be held October 18-20, 2019 at the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center. Tickets are now available for purchase.

The Baltimore Comic-Con has brought you amazing guests, retailers, and exhibitors. They’ve brought a yearbook, a scavenger hunt, and an original art auction. They’ve brought costume contests, industry award ceremonies, and after-parties. But they’ve never brought this:

Baltimore Comic-Con Crab

This gap-toothed creation is none other than the latest addition to the show, the Baltimore Comic-Con mascot, created by master draftsman, friend of the show, and Maryland resident Frank Cho! In addition to creating amazing art for comics, comic book covers, art books, and more using any number of art mediums and styles, Frank is also a renowned cartoonist for his Liberty Meadows comic strip and comic book.

But it’s not determined what its name will be, and Baltimore Comic-Con wants your help! They’ve created a poll to name the Mascot, and a contest to go along with it. If your vote is selected, you win 2 VIP Tickets to the Baltimore Comic-Con! Already got your tickets for 2019 (and really, why wouldn’t you?!), NO PROBLEM! You will win 2 VIP tickets to the 2020 Baltimore Comic-Con! (If multiple persons enter the winning name, date and time stamp will be used to decide who submitted name first.)

Voting is now open and closes on August 27th. The winner will be announced after the convention has had a chance to review all of the suggestions.

In addition to on-site CGC grading, this year’s confirmed guests for the show include: Joel Adams (Savage Eve), Neal Adams (Detective Comics), Zeea Adams (Neal Adams Monsters), Art Way Alliance, Brian Azzarello (Batman: Damned), Jeremy Bastian (Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Under The Spell), Marty Baumann (Disney/Pixar), Carolyn Belefski (Curls), Ziggy Blumenthal (Operation Pajama Pants), Brett Breeding (Superman, courtesy of Hero Initiative), Harold Buchholz (MST3K), Mark Buckingham (Justice League Dark), Cullen Bunn (Harrow County, courtesy of AfterShock Comics), Greg Burnham (Tuskegee Heirs), Buzz (Superman: Coming of the Supermen), Jim Calafiore (The Mike Wieringo Tellos Tribute), Chris Campana (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Joe Carabeo (The Legettes), Richard Case (Doom Patrol), Christa Cassano (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force), Castillo Studios, Jacob Chabot (Ziggy Pig – Silly Seal Comics), Howard Chaykin (Hey Kids!
