Robert Pattinson is the top choice and the deal is reported to be signed shortly. While this was an “exclusive” breaking news, others are reporting that Pattinson is just on the short list along with Nicholas Hoult. Armie Hammer has been rumored for the role for some time and was set to play the character in George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal.

Pre-production for the film is expected to begin this summer and we’d expect an official surprise announcement during San Diego Comic-Con.

Reeves took over directing duties from Ben Affleck for the film in January 2017 and the two have been developing the project since.

Robert Pattinson, age 32, would be the youngest to play the character on the big screen setting up a potential long run and continuity for the character when it comes to actors.

Robert Pattinson rose to fame playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight series of films. He also played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He’s worked steadily since he began acting in 2004 in both box office blockbusters and smaller films. He’s been cast in Christopher Nolan’s mystery project to be released in 2020. That film is also being released by Warner Bros. which is the company behind The Batman.

No official start date for the film has been set. Warner Bros. has been showing patience for the film to get it right.
