Where the Data Ranks 2018’s Comic Book Films. Deadpool 2 Nears $500 Million
In its second week Deadpool 2 saw a 66% drop from its debut weekend to earn $42.7 million and bring its domestic total to $207.4 million. The film almost beat Solo: A Star Wars Story internationally with an estimated $57 million there. Solo bumped Deadpool 2 from the top spot. Deadpool 2 opens in Japan on June 1. Worldwide the film has brought in $487.1 million. The film has cracked the top 40 and is now #39 for worldwide grosses for a comic adaptation. The film will need about $300 million to pass the original film’s box office total.
Avengers: Infinity War came in third place with an estimated $16.5 million. Domestically the film has earned $621.7 million and worldwide $1.905 billion. It remains as the fourth largest global release of all-time. This coming week the film will pass Marvel’s The Avengers domestically to become the second highest grossing comic adaptation behind Black Panther.
Black Panther dropped to #13 with $823,000. The film domestically has earned $697.8 million and worldwide the film has earned $1.344 billion. It’s about $60 million behind Avengers: Age of Ultron at which point it’d move into the third highest grossing comic adaptation.
The Death of Stalin dipped to #31 with an estimated $61,432 after 11 weeks. The film has earned $7.8 million domestically and is just shy of $18 million worldwide.
I Kill Giants continues to be a weird one when it comes to numbers. Some more numbers have come in. According to what little we could find, it looks like the film’s domestic box office has brought in $183,754. All together, the film has earned a reported $263,621 at the foreign box office. The movie was released on demand at the same time in theaters, so the film has made money it’s just unknown how much.
