The Inland Empire’s Only Comic Book Convention, Comic Con Revolution, Returns This Weekend With Its First Ever 2-Day Show

The Inland Empire’s only comic book convention, Comic Con Revolution, is expanding to two full days of programming for the first time when the show returns to the Ontario Convention Center this week. In only its second year, Comic Con Revolution will feature an impressive array of nearly 200 guests and 100 panels, and over 160 exhibitors on May 19 & 20.

Attendees will be treated to a wide array of entertainment, including:

  • A screening of the highly anticipated DEADPOOL 2 film and a Q&A with Deadpool co-creator/writer Fabian Nicieza, hosted by the convention organizers at an Ontario movie theater on Friday, May 18 at 10 AM, the day the film opens across the country and a day before the convention begins. 20 fans will be able to enjoy a Chimichanga for lunch with Nicieza at this one-time only event, following the screening.   • Mayor Paul S. Leon presiding at the opening ceremony Saturday the 19th at 8:45 AM;
  • The first ever appearance together at a comic book convention by Nickelodeon’s hit show Henry Danger cast members Jace Norman, Cooper Barnes and Tommy Walker on Sunday May 20;
  • A panel devoted to Batman: The Animated Series featuring the voices of Batman (Kevin Conroy), Poison Ivy (Diane Pershing), Robin (Loren Lester) and producer (Andrea Romano);
  • A Drawing Black Panther panel with Marvel Comics artist and Midnight Tiger creator Ray-Anthony Height;
  • A Worlds of Wonder Woman panel with artists Cat Staggs, Matt Haley, and Drew Johnson, and the voice of Wonder Woman herself, Susan Eisenberg (Justice League);
  • A Power Rangers 25th Anniversary panel;
  • A Teen Novelist Workshop, hosted by Ontario City Library’s Courtney Saldana;
  • Pop Paleo: A Cinematic History of Paleontology, presented by the Western Science Center and Cosplay for Science;
  • The GeekFest Film Fest, the first traveling Comic Con Film Festival, exhibiting the best Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Action, Superhero, Fan Films from around the world;
  • A Cosplay Revolution Costume Contest with a $500 cash prize for Best in Show;
  • A total of nearly 100 panels devoted to legendary comic book characters (Deadpool, Thor and the X-Men) blockbuster films (Star Wars), video games (Gears of War; Overwatch; Super Mario Bros.) and fan favorite comic creators (including Avengers writer Jason Aaron, Inkpot Award winning writer and artist Howard Chaykin, Image Comics Co-founder and artist Whilce Portacio, Teen Titans writer Marv Wolfman and Uncanny X-Men writer Chris Claremont);
  • The first ever Joe Kubert Distinguished Storyteller Award Ceremony. The recipient of a major comic book industry award in honor of iconic comic book artist Joe Kubert and his commitment to teaching the next generation of comic book creators will be named on Saturday at 5:30 PM.

For this year’s show, Atomic Crush Events has unveiled a new interpretation of Jetpack Jules, the official mascot for ComicCon Revolution, by Dustin Nguyen, the best-selling artist and co-writer of Batman: Lil Gotham and the artist and co-creator of Descender. ComicCon Revolution’s 2018 Official Merchandise, including glasses and t-shirts featuring Nguyen’s art, is available now for a limited time at the convention’s online store and will be available at the convention while supplies last.
