Broadchurch Creator to Take Over Doctor Who
After six contentious seasons with fans, Steven Moffat will be stepping down as the lead writer and executive producer of Doctor Who after next season. BBC made the announcement official on their site. At the start of season 11, Chris Chibnall will become the new Head Writer and Executive Producer of Doctor Who and his season debut will be in 2018. Chibnall is behind the critically praised Broadchurch as well as the BAFTA nominated The Great Train Robbery, United, Law & Order: UK, Life on Mars and Torchwood.
Under Moffat, Doctor Who became a global phenomenon as he oversaw the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors. Moffat’s final season will begin to air in Spring 2017 as well as a Christmas Special in 2016.
