TV Review: The Muppets S1E5 Walk the Swine

muppets-tv-show-posterMiss Piggy and Reese Witherspoon have a heated rivalry, but when the two volunteer for Habitat for Humanity their feud escalates to a whole new level. Meanwhile, Fozzie and his girlfriend Becky hit a rough patch.

The Muppets continue their being bad (or fairly normal) in a funny episode that focuses on three characters, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Scooter.

I have to give it up to Reese Witherspoon for playing along so well and Habitat for Humanity being in on the joke as well. The idea of Witherspoon playing keep away from Piggy is pretty funny, as well as the competition between the two.

Fozzie’s plot is interesting in that it digs a bit into the issue of comedians and their personal life. I wish there was a bit more of this in the show, but what we get is interesting enough. The end of the episode wraps it up nicely though.

Most of the laughs come from Scooter’s plot which involves a car accident that just spirals and spirals with some really funny jokes involving Rizzo.

But, as usual the real humor of the series is the jokes that come from quick lines that are so inappropriate coming out of the mouths of these characters. Really, the series sinks or swims on that aspect. I personally enjoy it.

  • Completely agree, for me personally this was one of the best episodes so far, I loved the competition between Piggy & Reese, the Scooter & Rizzo plot ist hilarious. My favourite moment in this show was the one with the dialogues in front of the Coffee-to-go-car on Reeses parking space.
Overall they managed to bring the spirit of the beloved classic show into the 21st century. It’s hilarious – I love the Muppets, again.
