More Lunch Witch from Papercutz
It looks like Grunhilda may have found some job security after all. The title character of Deb Lucke‘s debut graphic novel, The Lunch Witch is set to star in three more volumes from kids graphic novel publisher Papercutz. The deal, was announced today.
Published in March of this year, The Lunch Witch has been a critical and commercial success, receiving positive reviews and performing well at retail. That momentum looks to continue over the summer as Lucke appears at a number of different trade and consumer events. Fresh off an appearance at the Toronto Comic Arts Fair, Lucke just participated in the ABA’s “Author Speed Dating” event at BEA and signed copies of her book at the Papercutz booth during BookCon.
Lucke and the Papercutz team are also coming up with ways to keep Lunch Witch fans engaged while they wait for the next volume. Grunhilda is very active on social media with Twitter and Instagram, and Tumblr pages and she’s recently launched her own website – thelunchwitch.com. Future social media plans include You Tube videos and other transmedia efforts to keep the narrative progressing while Lucke finishes the next book in the series.
That’s bad news for Grunhilda’s students but good news for fans of The Lunch Witch. It looks like she’ll be serving up Hansel and Gretel Pie for a long time to come!
The Lunch Witch Vol. 1 by Deb Lucke is available at bookstores and comic book shops everywhere. Volume 2 is scheduled for release in Fall 2016.
