The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies Was Victorious at the Box Office

In its first week, the film has grossed $90.6 million, it opened Tuesday evening, and broadly Wednesday. IMAX shows earned $13.6 million, and 3D shows earned 49 percent of ticket sales.

The audience for the film was 60 percent male, and 60 percent over the age of 25. Attendees gave the film an A- CinemaScore.

In other movie earnings, Big Hero 6 earned an additional $3.6 million which placed it in eighth. That puts its domestic earnings at $190.4 million. That’s above the $165 million estimated budget for the film. It’ll likely cross the $200 million mark when its theatrical run is done.
