Could Fox Buy DC Comics?
There’s a lot of maneuvering the the mega corporation business world, as Rupert Murdoch‘s 21st Century Fox is looking to buy Time Warner. Time Warner owns DC Comics, so, it’s possible Fox might soon own some of the most iconic characters out there.
As reported by The Verge, Fox made an $80 billion bid for Time Warner, and that bid was declined. The New York Times is reporting that Murdoch is “determined” to push ahead with the takeover, and not likely to walk away. CNBC confirmed the offer and rebuttal. CNBC also has reported that the two company’s CEOs met in June to discuss a potential deal.
If this goes through, bets as to how quickly Superman returns to fighting for “truth, justice, and the AMERICAN way”?

actually ‘Warner Bros’ owns DC comics. ‘Time Warner’ is a cable company, they have no stake in DC.
Actually not right. DC Comics/DC Entertainment is a unit of Warner Bros. which is owned by Time Warner. So the statement is correct, Time Warner does own DC Comics, as well as Warner Bros., CNN, and many other things.
Warner Communications merged with Time Inc. which makes DC a subsidiary of Time Warner.
Directly from the DC website:
“DC Entertainment, home to iconic brands DC Comics (Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash), Vertigo (Sandman, Fables) and MAD, is the creative division charged with strategically integrating its content across Warner Bros. Entertainment and Time Warner. DC Entertainment works in concert with many key Warner Bros. divisions to unleash its stories and characters across all media, including but not limited to film, television, consumer products, home entertainment and interactive games. Publishing thousands of comic books, graphic novels and magazines each year, DC Entertainment is the largest English-language publisher of comics in the world. In January 2012, DC Entertainment, in collaboration with Warner Bros. and Time Warner divisions, launched We Can Be Heroes—a giving campaign featuring the iconic Justice League super heroes—to raise awareness and funds to fight the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa.”
welp, my bad yo. ;-)
All good. There was a point they were owned by AOL!
really, AOL?? LOL!
Yeah, from 2001 to 2003 it was AOL Time Warner, then back to just Time Warner from 2003 on. Imagine digital comics if that lasted! I would have wanted the irritating dial up sound integrated some how.
that wretched tone! sounds like the stuff nightmares are made from!
Superman’s next battle? The modem dial up tone!
ha! you may have stumbled upon a Dawn of Justice plot point! ;-)
