Drew Goddard out on Daredevil. Steven DeKnight is in.
News came out today that Drew Goddard has left Marvel‘s Netflix series Daredevil. Goddard was the showrunner and was to direct the first episode (he wrote the first two eisodes). This is the second change with one of Marvel’s live action creative teams in the past few days.
Goddard is committed to Sony’s Sinister Six movie, so there’s a good chance that commitment is playing into this decision. Goddard is going to stay on as an Executive Producer for the show.
Replacing Goddard is Steven S. Knight who has television experience having worked on Spartacus, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and Angel.
Daredevil is set to debut exclusively on Netflix in 2015, the first of four 13-episode Marvel shows to run on the streaming service, along with Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The four shows all lead up to a Netflix The Defenders miniseries/movie.
