Pick of the Week – Batwoman #1

Bookmark and Share

There’s some quality this week and quite a few of my picks for the top five releases I’ve read.  But, I’m going out on a limb for a book I haven’t read yet, but based on previous volumes Batwoman #1 should be very impressive.  J.H. Williams III was one of the previous creators, but with the loss of Greg Rucka, he’s moved onto not just the artist but also main storyteller.  Rucka is a massive talent, but in the end, I’d buy this comic for Williams art alone.  This will be the hottest of DC’s new releases this week.

  • Batwoman #1 – see above
  • 27: Second Set #1 – Charles Soule’s second volume starts off with some fantastic heart to it.  You can check out my review here.
  • PIGS #1 – Sleeper KGB agents? Check. Great crime/noir/thriller feel to it? Check. Shocking ending? Check. Read the review here.
  • Severed #2 – I’ve read the second issue (but haven’t written the review) and it’s as haunting and creepy as the first. Snyder is a master at gothic horror.
  • Criminal: Last of the Innocent #4 – The king of neo-noir, Brubaker brings us the last entry to his latest volume of an amazing series.
