Pick of the Week – Flashpoint #5

Bookmark and Share

It seems like a no-brainer as to what this week’s pick should be.  Flashpoint #5 gets this week’s honor as it ends DC’s solid summer event and we’ve been hinted that there’s more going on and at least one shocker remains at the end.  We also get DC’s relaunch as well which of course makes the list.  Flashpoint hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been a lot of fun and really has gotten DC to grow up and enter modern comic book storytelling full of action, over the top scenes and use of the real world, which makes it all relate-able.

  • Flashpoint #5 – see above
  • Justice League #1 – Hmm, art by Jim Lee?  That should be enough to get on the list, but this is one of the pillars of the DCnU.  Here’s hoping it lives up to the hype.
  • Uncanny X-Force #14 – Still in the Age of Apocalypse, still being pretty badass.
  • The Rinse #1 – BOOM! gets into the crime/noir genre with this solid entry.  I’ve been sitting on it for a bit to read, but expect a review.  It looks really good.
  • Any Empire – Top Shelf does quality and this beautiful book is an examination of war and violence, and their trickle-down effects on middle America.  Need I say more?
