VIZ Media Launches The New Apocalyptic Manga Series Fire Punch

VIZ Media has announced the debut of Fire Punch on January 16th.

This new dystopian thriller by creator Tatsuki Fujimoto is rated ‘M’ for Mature Readers and will be published under the VIZ Signature imprint. Volume 1 will carry a print MSRP of $12.99 U.S. / $17.99 CAN. Fire Punch also launches digitally on January 16th via viz.com and the VIZ Manga App, as well as from the Nook, Kobo, Kindle, iBooks, comiXology, and Google Play stores. Future volumes of the series will be published on a quarterly basis.

In Fire Punch, orphaned siblings Agni and Luna, like the Ice Witch who cursed their world, are two of the “blessed,” humans who hold special abilities. However, not all who are blessed are friendly, and after another of their kind attacks Agni and decimates the orphans’ village, Agni fights to survive, vowing revenge.

Creepy Horror Manga Masterpiece Tomie Debuts From VIZ Media

Tomie: Complete Deluxe Edition will be published as a special hardcover release under the VIZ Signature imprint with a suggested reader rating of ‘T+’ for Older Teens and a print MSRP of $34.99 U.S. / $46.99 CAN.

Tomie Kawakami is a femme fatale with long black hair and a beauty mark just under her left eye. She can seduce nearly any man, and drive them to murder as well, even though the victim is often Tomie herself. While one lover seeks to keep her for himself, another grows terrified of the immortal succubus. But soon they realize that no matter how many times they kill her, the world will never be free of Tomie.

Manga creator Junji Ito made his professional debut in 1987 and since then has gone on to be recognized as one of the greatest contemporary artists working in the horror genre. His acclaimed titles include TOMIE and UZUMAKI, which have been adapted into live-action films; GYO, which was adapted into an animated film; and FRAGMENTS OF HORROR, all of which are available in hardcover Deluxe Editions from VIZ Media. TOMIE was adapted into a live-action film and also into a TV series in Japan. Ultraman Comes to Viz Media

VIZMedia-RectLogo-NoTMVIZ Media brings the action-filled adventures of one of Japan’s greatest superheroes to English readers later this summer as it announces the acquisition of the Ultraman manga (graphic novel) series.

Ultraman depicts a new story inspired by the original classic Japanese superhero TV show that ran in the late 1960s. The Ultraman manga series was created by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi and launches in print on August 18th under the VIZ Signature imprint. In Japan, the series currently appears in Hero’s magazine.

Decades ago, a being known as the Giant of Light joined Shin Hayata of the Scientific Special Search Party to save Earth from an invasion of terrifying monsters known as Kaiju. Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero – a new kind of ULTRAMAN… Shinjiro is an ordinary teenager, but his father is the legendary Shin Hayata. VIZ Media Acquires Junji Ito’s Fragments of Horror

VIZSignature-LogoVIZ Media expands its catalog of horror manga (graphic novel) titles with the acquisition of Junji Ito’s Fragments of Horror.

The title marks the creator’s return to the horror following an eight-year break from the genre, and it will receive a deluxe hardcover treatment for the North American release. Fragments of Horror will debut in the Summer of 2015 under the company’s VIZ Signature imprint, and is rated ‘T+’.

A Town Spirals Into Madness in the New Uzumaki Deluxe Edition

VIZ Media has announced the release of the Uzumaki Deluxe Edition. The new 3-in-1 hardcover version of creator Junji Ito’s inventive horror manga (graphic novel) about the gradual decent into madness of a seaside town overrun with spirals features a new cover design as well as 12 pages of new full-color interior artwork.

The Uzumaki Deluxe Edition, now available is published under the VIZ Signature imprint, is rated ‘T+’ for Older Teens, and carries an MSRP of $27.99 U.S. / $32.00 CAN.

Kurouzu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world.
