Comic Party Wonder Love debuts in December from TokyoPop’s LoveLove Imprint

A BL manga about men who love BL manga… and each other. Fun, heartwarming and tantalizingly sexy, Comic Party Wonder Love is a boys love romance series about the world of making boys love comics!

Raizo and TOS are two men who also write BL in their spare time. Raizo is a cool, laidback and handsome guy whose dark BL style is popular, while TOS has a light and fluffy writing style, but is less popular due to his social awkwardness and difficulty communicating. Even though they are complete opposites in everything, they find themselves inexplicably drawn to one another…

Deco Yamano is a prolific BL manga creator known for such titles as Comic Party Wonder Love, Chotto Damatte, and Kimiiro Real.

Comic Party Wonder Love Vol. 1 debuts December 3rd from Kodansha’s LoveLove imprint and is for readers 18+.

Tokyopop heads to Anime NYC and an event at the New York Public Library

At 30 I Realized I Had No Gender: Life Lessons From a 50-YEar-Old After Two Decades of Self Discovery

Publisher Tokyopop invites anime fans and attendees heading to Anime NYC, one of the East Coast’s biggest dedicated anime conventions, to catch a special off-site panel event highlighting 8 Manga You Should Add to Your Collection taking place Friday, November 17th at the New York Public Library branch located at 18 West 53rd St in Manhattan.

Join Tokyopop editor, Becca Chen, as she joins editors from other prominent manga publishers including VIZ Media, Yen Press, Dark Horse, Kodansha, DENPA, and Inklore for an insightful session to be moderated by the NYPL’s Children’s Librarian, Douglas Varney. Each participant will highlight notable manga titles they love that need to be known, read, and cherished. Fans and other industry professionals are cordially invited.

The details are listed below:

During the panel, Becca Chen will highlight two manga with particular focus on LGBTQ issues –  Why I Adopted My Husband, by Yuta Yagi, and At 30 I Realized I Had No Gender: Life Lessons From a 50-YEar-Old After Two Decades of Self Discovery, by Shou Arai. Both titles are published under Tokyopop’s “Comics That Matter” initiative that utilizes the graphic novel medium to raise awareness about important causes and social issues.

Why I Adopted My Husband is part memoir, part informational literature that highlights the importance of legally recognized unions when it comes to matters of hospital rights, inheritance, and the everyday privileges many people in Japan may take for granted. This nonfiction work is told in an approachable tone with plenty of humor; ultimately, it’s an inspiring story of the triumph of love.

At 30 I Realized I Had No Gender is an autobiographical manga that explores Japanese culture surrounding gender, transgender issues and the daily challenges faced by gender minorities and members of the LGBTQIA+ community with a lighthearted, comedic approach.

Tokyopop launches the BL Manga Series – Love Murder Basketball – in November

Publisher Tokyopop has announced the upcoming release of a gripping and gritty new BL release that weaves a tense cat and mouse murder mystery against the backdrop of professional sports, Love Murder Basketball. It comes to shops on November 28th.

The new series will be published under Tokyopops’s LoveLove imprint and features story by Kurutta Hito and artwork by Tsunderuuu. Love Murder Basketball is based on a hit OEL webtoon that has been read more than 360 million times and currently enjoys more than 45K subscribers. The print release from Tokyopop also will be published digitally.

As the son of one of the most infamous Yakuza bosses in Japan, Shoto Tanaka’s life is anything but ordinary. Then he meets the most popular athlete in Japan, Goro Nakamura. Goro is used to putting on a show for the public, and since he comes of a family of wealth and notoriety, he is frequently in the limelight. Shoto, like many others, is captivated by Goro’s icy charisma.

What Shoto doesn’t yet know is that Goro is also the infamous “Animosity Serial Killer.” In what ways will Goro and Shoto’s profound devotion to each other and their conflicting ideologies impact their complex relationship and those around them?

Goro, one of the main characters, is of Japanese and Melanesia-African American heritage. His heritage is an important part of his narrative, and I wanted to explore what it’s like to be a multicultural kid growing up in a homogeneous culture.

During the early stages of the creation of his character, I had a distinct notion that he should be unlike anyone else in the BL community. I wanted him to be unique in his own way. I was also aware that it would not be easy to do. Every character in this series brings a smile to my face, and I sincerely hope that readers will develop the same sentiments regarding any of the characters that ultimately win their hearts. There is a character for everyone. Your readership of Love Murder Basketball is appreciated.

creator Kurutta Hito

This bloody BL thriller is for mature readers (18+) who enjoy dark psychological themes, suspense, and a side of horror with their romance.

Noir Caesar and Tokyopop announce Try Again

Try Again is the latest Noir Caesar graphic novel to join the Tokyopop catalog, which also includes the coming-of-age martial arts drama, Xogenasys, and the sci-fi adventure, Primus 7.

As a member of the Cacciatore Guild, Danielle Burroughs is one of the criminal underworld’s most renowned hitmen. Despite her success, memories from her past bleed into the present and force her to reconsider the life she now leads. Events are set in motion once she kills Emilio Francesca, her caretaker, but accidentally also kills his daughter, Lilio, in the process. She realizes that she’s had enough of this life, one now truly without meaning. Leaving it all behind, she soon realizes that even Death is no escape from her past.

Try Again is based on an original story idea created by Will Brown, a 15-year music producer with multiple award nominations for his work. His love for anime, games, and comics led him to co-found Noir Caesar Entertainment with former NBA player Johnny O’Bryant III and create this action-packed story. The story is by Marcus-Kwaben Johnson and John Lawrence with art by Win Delores. It comes to shelves on November 14th.
