TokyoPop Licenses The Celebrated Spanish Manga Perfeddion for a North American English and Spanish Release

TokyoPop has announced that it has licensed the North American Spanish and English publishing rights for Perfeddion, a one-shot manga by Spanish manga creators Dani Bermúdez and Fidel De Tovar. The paranormal drama is set for print and digital debut in 2026.

A family reunion always brings surprises, but neither Liv nor the rest of the family could have imagined what awaits them at Perfeddion, the enigmatic house on the outskirts where Uncle Guido has moved and where he has summoned them to introduce them to his mysterious new girlfriend.

The shadows lurking in the house’s hallways and the disturbing noises around it aren’t mere paranormal phenomena, but something much darker than the family is prepared to face.

They don’t know it, but Perfeddion has one rule: YOU WILL NOT RUN AWAY WITHOUT THEM.

The print and digital release of Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim, Volume 1: A Yakuza Heiress Becomes the Top-Ranked Villain’s Romantic Target is set for August 12th. In heart-pounding romantasy, a strong-willed mafia heiress only wants peace — but her villainous fiancé from a rival crime family has other plans.

Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim is by Soro Goto with the original story by Touko Amekawa.

When the granddaughter of a yakuza boss is reincarnated as Francesca Calvino, the heroine in a mafia dating video game — set in a fantastical world where crime bosses serve the king — she knows what to expect: another ill-fated life without friends. But thanks to her upbringing, she’s already hatched a plan. By expertly navigating the game’s main story, Francesca will leave the world of organized crime behind for good!

First on her agenda: break off her engagement to the notorious Leonardo Aldini, the young head of the Aldini family and major villain of the game. SDCC 2025: TOKYOPOP Announces its Exclusives and Programming

TOKYOPOP returns to San Diego Comic-Con with a notable array of collectible art prints, manga variants and specialty priced editions of acclaimed titles that will be available exclusively from its Booth #1837. Comic-Con International: San Diego 2025 takes place July 24-27 at the San Diego Convention Center.

TokyoPop Contributes $10K To Binc Foundation’s SoCal Fire Relief Fund

Los Angeles based publisher and pioneering manga and anime media brand TokyoPop has announced that is has contributed $10,000 to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation’s (Binc) matching gift pool to benefit those in the book and comics industry affected by the ongoing L.A. wildfires.

Binc has posted a form on its website for contributors who wish to use the matching pool to double their donations. The first $55,000 in contributions will be matched dollar for dollar no matter the size. The organization offers financial assistance grants and mental health wellness programs to qualified book and comic store owners and their employees.

So far, the fires have burned more than 62 square miles according to Cal Fire’s figures. The death toll stands at 25 and is considered likely to rise. As many as 82,400 residents remain under immediate evacuation orders or warnings of imminent evacuation.

At least 12,000 structures are believed to have been destroyed in the Eaton and Palisades fires alone, the two biggest of the conflagrations. As of Friday, January 17 th , the Palisades Fire, which has charred more than 23,700 acres, is 22-percent contained and still a significant threat to neighborhoods on the west side of Los Angeles, while the Eaton fire at some 14,000 acres near Pasadena is 55-percent contained.

Mattel and Tokyopop team up for Hot Wheels and Barbie manga

Mattel and Tokyopop have announced a partnership to develop original manga-style graphic novels for children ages 8-12 based on Mattel’s Hot Wheels and Barbie brands.

The first titles, including a western-style manga graphic novel series inspired by Hot Wheels and new stories featuring characters from Barbie, are set to debut in print in 2026. These series will feature fresh artwork and original stories, bringing the cherished brands to new audiences in innovative formats.

The top-selling toy globally, Hot Wheels introduces over 130 new car designs annually and has 25,000 variations in existence today. Barbie, the most diverse doll brand in the world, has inspired girls for over six decades, and continues to be a symbol of empowerment, imagination, and limitless possibilities. 

This partnership builds upon Mattel’s ongoing efforts to further engage fans through storytelling. In 2024, Mattel previously announced its own publishing imprint, with Simon & Schuster serving as its sales and distribution partner.

SDCC 2024: Tokyopop announces its convention plans and exclusives

The 2024 Comic-Con International: San Diego takes place July 25-28 at the San Diego Convention Center. Tokyopop will be in the main show floor in Booth #4037. Comic-Con has run since 1970 and attendance in 2023 exceeded 150,000 people making it one of North America’s longest running and largest annual pop culture events.

This year, TOKYOPOP celebrates titles from its Disney Manga catalog with convention exclusives and special promotions for its bestselling TIM BURTON’S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS: THE BATTLE FOR PUMPKIN KING. Anime Expo 2024: Tokyopop announces its panels and show exclusives

Publisher Tokyopop returns to North America’s most celebrated anime convention this summer as it announces plans and show exclusives for Anime Expo 2024. Anime Expo will take place July 4-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA.
