Meet Angel – a vampire cursed with a soul who has spent centuries protecting humanity from the monsters that lurk in the dark…including himself. Now, looking for redemption for the atrocities committed by the monster he was when he was first turned at the age of 18, Angel stumbles upon a new demon uprising and a shocking truth: The restoration of his humanity can only come if he takes one more life – a certain Slayer from Sunnydale who he’s never met…but may now be his greatest enemy.

Angel is in Sunnydale, searching for a cure to his centuries-long existence as a vampire cursed with a soul, but all he’s found is even more death, the loss of a loved one, and a mysterious monster that he can’t see or follow, that uses the evil mirror of social media and modern communication to lure victims into an existence worse than death. Can Angel catch up to the monster before it can take the lives of any other Sunnydale teens? And what exactly does the monster want with a young, troubled woman named Winifred Burkle?

Angel #2 features the first appearance of fan favorite character Winifred “Fred” Burkle, a math and science prodigy whose mysterious link to the demonic world connects her to the supernatural monster hunting her every step and Angel’s search for his humanity. Angel, the vampire with a soul, has been walking the streets of Los Angeles for years, neither human nor vampire but surviving in the shadows of both worlds. After losing his protege to a demon, Angel has decided to find a way to finally return himself to his human form so that he can escape the guilt of his past, dark actions as the murderous Angelus. 

The search for a solution to his cursed, tormented existence has led Angel to a sleepy little town in California known as Sunnydale. But as soon as he arrives and begins stalking the shadows to find a way to restore his humanity, a monstrous new threat emerges to hunt down and torture teens all across town. Now Angel’s got two missions on his hands. But will tracking down this new monster mean he loses the chance to become human forever? Meet Angelus, leader of an army of brutal vampire warriors terrorizing the land, hungry for power and thirsty for blood as he invades villages and takes innocent people past the point of no return. Several centuries later, Angel spends his time protecting humanity from the monsters that lurk in the dark in an attempt to redeem himself for the crimes committed by the monster he was when he was first turned. It may be that he’s too late to save his humanity and his soul but he’s lost too many people in his ongoing fight against the forces of evil, and he’s finally ready to find a solution to his tortured existence as a vampire with a conscience. When his path leads him to an old friend in Sunnydale, sparks will fly and demons will clash as Angel’s search takes him ever closer to the person who could end his quest before it’s even begun—the Chosen One, Buffy Summers.
