Bad Idea reveals Hank Howard, Pizza Detective Movie Moments Editions

On July 8th, Hank Howard, Pizza Detective, returns to stands with an all new one-shot special — The Inside Job #1! And it’s coming with a brand-new series of covers homaging the BIGGEST movies of the 80s! 

David Lapham, the Eisner Award-winning artist behind seminal crime classics Stray Bullets reimagines the end of this all-new Hank Howard whodunnit with the Hank Howard, Pizza Detective Movie Moments!

A collection of four must-have covers, each one paying tribute to the greatest genre filmmakers of the 1980’s: David Cronenberg, Paul Verhoeven, Steven Spielberg, and of course, John Carpenter.

Something’s rotten at Big Caligula’s Pizza, location #212 — and it’s not just last week’s mozzarella. Cash tips have fallen off a cliff, and the question on everyone’s lips is, why? Has service really gone downhill, or is there something, or someone, more sinister to blame? 

Corporate smells trouble, and they’ve called in their best man for the job. Enter, Hank Howard. Armed with a mind as sharp as a tack, nerves of steel, and an ironclad stomach, Hank’s about to dive into a mystery hotter than a fresh-baked pie and his only lead won’t talk. Literally. It’s the location’s mascot, Biggie. The employees who don the oversized Roman Emperor garb are forbidden from talking in front of customers. Ruins the illusion for the kids. 

Thankfully, Hank’s not flying solo. Location #212 just happens to be the stomping grounds of Hank’s old buddy, the pizza crust loving dog, Cali. Together, they’ll sniff out clues, chomp down leads, and uncover secrets that could rock the pizza world to its core.

Bad Idea keeps the Gimmicks Flowing with the Tankers vs. Ancient Aliens Ancient Amber Edition

The next Tankers epic kicks off this June with Tankers vs. Ancient Aliens from writer Robert Venditti, art by Tomas Giorello, Trevor Hairsine, and more.

Publisher Bad Idea has no fear of bringing out some of the more creative gimmicks for their comics and this debut is no exception.

Tankers vs. Ancient Aliens #1 is getting an “Ancient Amber Edition” that contains a “Jurassic Insect.” These limited covers feature an epoxy resin with the prehistoric insect inside. But, don’t get your Jurassic Park dreams rolling, it’s a replica Jurassic insect.

The Tankers were sent back 65 million years into the past with a simple mission. To use their weaponized mech-suits to divert the asteroid that annihilated the dinosaurs and buy a little more time before extinction – and a lot more future oil reserves. But deep in Earth’s prehistoric past, something far deadlier than dinosaurs lies in wait. A species of star-faring, super-advanced ancient aliens! Battle-hardened by millennia of galaxy-spanning civil war, the ancient aliens have come to Earth armed to the teeth and ready to unleash the most fearsome arsenal unknown to man. Now the Tankers must wage an all-out war against ancient aliens and monstrous super-dinosaurs alike if they hope to fight their way back to a future worth saving!
