Judge Dredd Megazine Is Now Available Through Lunar!

Judge Dredd Megazine

The future has arrived at Lunar Distribution! Starting with February’s edition of the Lunar Catalogue, the award-winning Judge Dredd Megazine will be available each and every month for order through Lunar, bringing Thrill-Power worldwide!

Judge Dredd Megazine has been running since 1990, and in its current form is a monthly 100-page magazine which features new comics alongside features, interviews, and more. The Megazine focuses on Judge Dredd and the future dystopia of Mega-City One which he patrols – and is also the home to iconic and beloved characters like Judge Anderson, Devlin Waugh, and Metta Lawson.

Some of the most famous stories in 2000 AD history first found their home in the Megazine, including the iconic and thrilling Judge Dredd: America as well as the horror of Young Death; alongside modern classic runs like the heavy-hitting Dreadnoughts and the wild-west action of Lawless.

Each issue of Judge Dredd Megazine features some of the most acclaimed and individual creators currently working in comics, including names like John Wagner, Garth Ennis, Chris Weston, Colin MacNeil, Dan Abnett, Rob Williams, John Higgins, Alex de Campi, Phil Winslade and more.

Alongside the all-new comics published in each monthly edition, the Megazine also features a variety of features and interviews set across the world of comics, celebrating and championing new initiatives and raising attention to comics being created across the UK. From interviews with film director Ben Wheatley and Dredd’s co-creator John Wagner through to features on the recent Dan Dare revival and return of A1/Deadline, the Megazine offers news and updates on the ever-changing and inventive world of British comics – making it an essential read for anyone interested in what’s going on in the industry!

The first available issue of The Big Meg will be Judge Dredd Megazine 491, which features a pulse-pounding collection of stories! Every Megazine kicks off with a ten-page Judge Dredd story, and Megazine 491 also features the acclaimed alt-universe serial Megatropolis; the return of the dimension-hopping Department K; the hard-edged 1970s New York Coppers Fargo & McBane; the sci-fi soccer shenanigans of John Wagner and Dan Cornwell’s Rok The World; the radioactive terror of Atomfall; and much more!

The arrival of Judge Dredd Megazine as a monthly comic via Lunar continues the growing partnership between Rebellion and Lunar, which began in 2025.

Alongside Judge Dredd Megazine, Lunar also offer Rebellion Special releases including the upcoming Action 50th Anniversary Special, which celebrates the anniversary of the controversial UK comic with a new 48-page issue spearheaded by Garth Ellis; and new and backlist collections including the Judge Dredd: Rend & Tear Graphic Novel, as well as The Complete Alan Moore, a new series of hardback collections which begins in 2026.

Retailers looking to order Judge Dredd Megazine should look to February’s edition of “Next Phase”, available via Lunar and on the Lunar website – featuring the Lawman of the Future as this month’s cover star!

Ink & Imagination 011: Across the Atlantic — The British Invasion of American Comics

Welcome to Ink & Imagination, brought to you by Those Two Geeks.

In this episode, Ink & Imagination traces how the rebellious storytelling ethos of 2000 AD crossed into the U.S. and permanently reshaped American comics. From Karen Berger’s pivotal role in opening the door, to Alan Moore’s seismic reinvention of the medium, and the rise of voices like Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, and Garth Ennis, this is the story of how satire, political anger, and literary ambition collided with superheroes.

We explore how the British Invasion dismantled old assumptions about heroism, authority, and morality – and how its influence led to Vertigo, darker storytelling trends, backlash, and ultimately a transformation the industry could never undo.

This isn’t just a history lesson. It’s the story of how comics learned to question themselves.

The Comic They Couldn’t Kill – Action Returns in April!

Before 2000 AD there was Action! Action was always ahead of the curve… and sometimes pushed its luck just a bit too far. Celebrating 50 years since the first issue of the original series which inspired readers across the country, The Treasury of British Comics are publishing an all-new oversized Special which brings back all the shock and awe of the original series!

First published in 1976, Action shocked the UK when it first landed on shelves, with a range of stories which not only brought hard-hitting action to the page, but offered social commentary and sharp criticism which soon caught the eye of Mary Whitehouse and her fellow censors.

After an issue which featured a controversial cover that appeared to show a teenager assaulting a police officer as part of “Kids Rule OK”, a moral panic ensued which led to the comic being withdrawn from the shelf! When it did return, readership fell at the new, “safe” version of Action which they found in their newsagent.

Although Action was eventually closed in 1977, the spirit and attitude of the comic found a new home in the form of 2000 AD, which took up the attack and has been running with it ever since. Now, fifty years later, Rebellion Publishing are reviving Action for a new Special featuring an incredible lineup of creators, and some of its most famous – and infamous characters – back on shelves and ready to inspire a whole new generation to anarchy!

The Special features:

  • Dredger by Garth Ennis and John Higgins. Britain’s deadliest secret agent returns, hitting the vengeance trail after the death of his partner, Breed. Dredger kills and maims his way across London, intent on delivering his own brand of justice. How much of London will be left when he’s finished?
  • Hook Jaw by Steve White and Staz Johnson. There’s a killer out at sea! The vicious Hook Jaw has been seen in the depths of the ocean again, the killer shark with no regard for human life – and he’s heading out on the hunt! As a crew of drug dealers attempt to complete a sale in lawless international waters, they attract the attention of the legendary shark… this isn’t going to be pretty!
  • Hellman of Hammer Force by Garth Ennis and Mike Dorey. Blazing battle action on the Eastern Front in 1944, as Panzer commander Kurt Hellman leads a small German armoured unit against massed Soviet forces. As the tank men struggle to survive in this frozen hell, they face a new and terrible savagery from their vengeance-crazed Russian enemies.
  • Look Out For Lefty by Rob Williams and Patrick Goddard. Footballer Kenny “Lefty” Lampton has the most dangerous left foot in the game, blazing the ball through the net. But Lefty doesn’t play fair, and his temper constantly flares up on the pitch, boiling over into fury and violence! After his anger leaves him stranded on the subs bench, he finally gets his chance – this could be his big comeback, a chance to regain his lost glory! As The Royal Family watch on from the stand, can Lefty keep it under control for ninety minutes?

Featuring a powerhouse lineup of writers and artists, Action is taking no prisoners on its return to the newspaper stand! You thought it was controversial before? You haven’t seen anything yet! Action is back, and more hard-hitting than ever!

The Action 2026 Special is coming to a newsagent or comic book shop near you on 15th April – pre-order it now!

Rok The World Races into Judge Dredd Megazine this January!

Rok The World, the third series from the “Rok Of The Rovers” team of John Wagner and Dan Cornwell, begins in Judge Dredd Megazine 488 – out on the 21st January!

Originally published in two volumes by the trio of Wagner and Cornwell, alongside the late great Alan Grant, Rok of the Reds is a black comedy about revenge, redemption, and relegation. It follows Rok of Arkadi, an alien who seeks refuge on Earth after his homeworld is destroyed by bounty hunters. However, his attempts to hide under the radar are complicated when he has a chance meeting with arrogant young footballer Kyle Dixon, a bad boy who has been causing problems for his struggling team.

Assuming Kyle’s identity, Rok finds himself thrust unexpectedly into the spotlight: not only does he have to keep himself safe from ruthless alien bounty hunters – but he’s got games to win! Rok is going to have to learn to love the beautiful game if he’s going to keep his cover intact, or he’ll risk being captured by his enemies… or worse, relegated!

The first two Rok of the Reds stories, “Rok of the Reds” and “Rok The God” were republished in Judge Dredd Megazine across the last year, and Wagner describes this new run as the third and final part of the trilogy.

Having already thrilled readers of the Megazine across 2025, it’s time to Rok the World by completing this hat-trick of modern classic stories — and kick off a whole new adventure from the team!

Rok The World begins in Judge Dredd Megazine 488, out January 21st – which also starts a new Judge Dredd story, alongside the latest instalments of Megatropolis, Judge Anderson, Armitage, Dreadnoughts and more! Subscribe now to guarantee your copy!
