Aspen Heads to Heroes Con for the First Time

Aspen Comics is heading to Heroes Con for the first time as the publisher continues to celebrate its tenth anniversary and their “10 for 10” initiative. This weekend on June 7^th – 9^th in Charlotte, Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Mark Roslan, Cory Smith and Khary Randolph will be appearing throughout the weekend at the Aspen Comics Booth.

Aspen will be releasing their latest “10 for 10” offering at the con, BubbleGun #1, featuring a Heroes Con 2013 exclusive cover by Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez, limited to 250 copies. BubbleGun is Aspen’s new sci-fi, action-adventure series from creator Mark Roslan with art by Mike Bowden and David Curiel.

The publisher will also be releasing a special Aspen Splash Heroes Con 2013 cover by Aspen founder and superstar artist Michael Turner and Beth Sotelo with Peter Steigerwald, limited to 250 copies.

In addition to exclusive comics, Aspen will also be offering an all new lineup of their industry-leading art prints, featuring the latest Aspen Tour Print Heroes Con edition (Limited to 100 editions), as well as the new Aspen Splash 2013 Heroes Con print by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald (Limited to 100 editions) as well as new BubbleGun prints by Mike Bowden and Khary Randolph (Limited to 30 each).

Aspen Comics Heads to Phoenix Comic Con 2013

Aspen Comics has revealed their much-anticipated Phoenix Comic Con 2013 exclusives as well as their list of creators that will be available at the Aspen Comics Booth #’s 873 and 972 all weekend long.

Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Vince Hernandez, Mike DeBalfo, J.T. Krul, Brett Smith, Nei Ruffino and Alex Konat will be appearing at the Aspen Booth throughout the weekend for signings, sketches and more.

The popular Aspen Splash swimsuit pinup book by Aspen returns this year with an oversized special edition featuring both new and classic pieces by Aspen’s top talents and more. The Aspen Booth #873 and 972 will be offering an exclusive Aspen Splash 2013 Phoenix Comics Con edition with a cover by Aspen founder Michael Turner along with superstar colorist Peter Steigerwald, limited to 250 copies.

The best-selling “10 for 10” initiative celebrating ten years of Aspen Comics continues with two all new “10 for 10” exclusives for the convention. Aspen’s critically-acclaimed series Charismagic returned in May and will feature a special Charismagic #2 Phoenix Comic Con 2013 cover by artist Paolo Pantalena and Steigerwald limited to 200 copies, two weeks prior to its release exclusive only for PCC attendees. Aspen will also be offering an exclusive for their new top-selling fantasy series with a Jirni #2 Phoenix Comic Con cover by series artist Pantalena and Steigerwald, limited to 200 copies.

In addition to exclusive comics, Aspen will be releasing an all-new series of their industry-leading art prints including the Aspen Tour Print 2013 Phoenix Comic Con Edition by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald limited to 100 editions. Aspen Comics Heads to Long Beach Comic Expo

Aspen Comics will be appearing at this weekend’s Long Beach Comic Expo on Saturday, May 11^th, and will be offering exclusive Aspen convention items and more for the one-day event. Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Vince Hernandez, Mark Roslan, Beth Sotelo, David Wohl and Jonathan Marks will be appearing all day long at the Aspen Comics Booth and will be available for signatures and free sketches.

Aspen and the Long Beach Comic Expo have also teamed up to offer special Aspen Combo Ticket packages with a large assortment of Aspen collectibles. The combo packs are as follows:

Aspen Comics Charismagic Package:

Aspen’s ’10 for 10′ Continues to Pay Off with Jirni

Aspen launched 2013 with an ambitious plan to release 1o comics in 10 months with their “10 for 10” initiative. It seems it’s paying off as Jirni #1, their third release, had orders in excess of over 35,000 copies and is the top-selling non premier book for the month of April, 2013. That’s three for three.

This is the third release in a row from Aspen Comics to secure the top spot for the Diamond small press rankings following the debuts of Legend of the Shadow Clan #1 and Shrugged #1. Due to the high demand for the issue, the Aspen Reserved Edition covers for the issue are currently sold out at the Diamond level. As a result, the publisher has pledged to offer their own personal quantities of the sold out Reserved Edition covers to help fulfill retailers’ orders.

Of course creator J.T. Krul was pleased with the news:

I am thrilled by the tremendous response to the premiere issue of Jirni. Much of the credit goes to Paolo Pantalena and Brett Smith for their incredible job of bringing Jirni’s fantastic world to life. I know readers and retailers have hundreds of choices when to it comes to choosing comic books, and I am grateful they have given our book a chance. It only motivates us more. Issue #2 can’t get here soon enough. It’s only gets better.

Aspen is pricing each debut #1 “10 for 10” issue for the affordable price of only $1 and is also offering other incentives for each release such as original hand-drawn sketch covers, CGC editions, and special retailer incentive covers by popular artists J. Scott Campbell and Eric “Ebas” Basaldua, as well as a Jirni #2 cover by Philip Tan.

Fans and new Aspen readers who add each of the “10 for 10” titles to their comic shop’s local subscription service will be eligible to receive the special Aspen Reserved Edition variant covers. Those fans who collect all ten Aspen Reserved Edition #1 covers will receive a free full-size Aspen “Perfect 10’s” Jam Poster featuring all ten “10 for 10” covers on one image colored by superstar colorist Peter Steigerwald. The Jirni #1 Aspen Reserved Edition cover features artwork by Paolo Pantalena and Steigerwald.

Aspen Heads to Fan Expo Vancouver

Aspen Comics is pleased to head north of the border and back to Canada for the first of two back-to-back weekends. Beginning on April 20th– 21st, Aspen will be attending the Fan Expo Vancouver 2013 convention and will be bringing some of their finest creators along with exclusive comics and prints.

Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Siya Oum and J.T. Krul will be at the Aspen Comics Booth all weekend long to meet fans, sign autographs and offer free sketches.

The all-new Aspen series Jirni will celebrate its release with a special Jirni #1 Fan Expo Vancouver 2013 exclusive cover by series artist Paolo Pantalena and Nei Ruffino, limited to 300 copies. Aspen will also be offering an exclusive Shrugged #2 Fan Expo Vancouver cover by Siya Oum, limited to 200 copies. Both exclusive books will only be available at the Aspen Comics Booth.

The celebration of Aspen’s ten years in the industry continues with the all new Aspen Tour Print Anniversary Edition art print by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald, limited to 125 editions. In addition to the Aspen Tour Print, the publisher will also be offering an all new series of their industry leading prints, including the all new series Jirni.

The latter of Aspen’s two stops in Canada will be at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo on April 26^th-28^th. The publisher will reveal more details about this appearance soon.

Aspen’s Latest “10 for 10” Jirni Out Tomorrow

Tomorrow sees the latest release in Aspen‘s “10 for 10” initiative. Jirni #1 by J.T. Krul, Paolo Pantalena and Brett Smith, has orders in excess of over 36,000 copies and will feature a large array of retailer exclusive covers personalized for each individual store, which you can see below.

To say we’re happy with the response to Jirni #1 would be a complete understatement. Though we felt the property would do well, we’re thrilled with the amount of feedback and interest we’ve received on it so far. JT, Paolo and Brett did an amazing job on this book and I cannot wait to hear what the fans think about it. This series marks our highest selling ’10 for 10′ debut this year, and I don’t see that slowing down anytime soon!

All New Fathom #1 Continues Aspen’s 10 for 10 in July

Aspen Comics is gearing up to release their sixth title in their successful “10 for 10” initiative this July, Michael Turner’s Fathom. In accordance with the 15-year anniversary of the title, and a planned summer crossover leading into the new series, the All New Fathom #1 will feature a new direction for the series and an excellent jumping-on point for new readers. From writer David Wohl and Alex Konat and Beth Sotelo, the All New Fathom #1 will debut in stores on July 24^th.

Michael Turner’s best-selling series has reached its milestone 15-year anniversary! However, Aspen Matthews’ adventure under the surface has no plans of slowing down! Following the devastating events of “The Elite Saga”, Aspen Matthews finds herself at a decisive crossroads in her life—with the memories of her past no longer weighing her down, she is finally able to set about building a new life in San Diego once more. Wohl discusses the new series:

From the first time I ever heard Michael Turner talk about Fathom, I knew he was onto something very special and very cool. At that point, we were working on Witchblade together, and even then, I hoped that someday I’d have the opportunity to write it. And now, during the 10th Anniversary of Aspen Comics, I’ve gotten my chance, and I couldn’t be more elated!

As with all of Aspen’s “10 for 10” releases, the comic’s first issue will be just $1. Aspen will also be offering a special Aspen Reserved Edition cover for Fathom #1 featuring art by Konat and colorist Peter Steigerwald. Fans who reserve Fathom #1 by adding it to their pullbox with their local retailers will be eligible to receive the Aspen Reserved Edition of Fathom #1.

Fans who collect all ten of Aspen’s “10 for 10” Aspen Reserved Edition #1 covers each month through their local retailer will be eligible to receive the full-size Aspen “Perfect 10’s” jam poster absolutely free.

In addition to the debut issue, Aspen is also offering a Fathom #2 J. Scott Campbell Retailer Incentive cover available in August.

Aspen Heads to WonderCon!

Aspen Comics has released their WonderCon Anaheim 2013 exclusives as well as their list of creators appearing at the Aspen Comics Booth #701 on March 29-31st. Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Vince Hernandez, Mark Roslan, J.T. Krul, Beth Sotelo, Mike DeBalfo, Nei Ruffiino, David Wohl, Lori Hanson, and Jonathan Marks will all be appearing throughout the weekend at the Aspen Comics Booth.

Aspen is offering two highly-limited show exclusives: Legend of the Shadow Clan #3 will be released early at the show with a special Wondercon Anaheim exclusive cover by Mike DeBalfo and colored by Peter Steigerwald and limited to 200 copies. Aspen will also be releasing an Executive Assistant: Assassins #9 WonderCon cover by Giuseppe Cafaro and David Curiel, limited to 200 copies. Both exclusives will only be available at the Aspen Comics Booth #701.

To continue their ten-year anniversary celebration, Aspen is releasing the Aspen Tour Print 2013 WonderCon Anniversary Edition, with art by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald, limited to 125 editions. Aspen will also be releasing all new prints featuring Soulfire, The Legend of the Shadow Clan and Shrugged.

The “Ten Years of Aspen Comics” panel will take place on Saturday, March 30^th in room 208 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm and will feature all of Aspen’s creative talents as they answer fans’ questions and reveal what’s in store for the next ten years of Aspen Comics.

Aspen Reveals BubbleGun

Aspen Comics has revealed more info on their June release in their successful “10 for 10” anniversary initiative. For their fifth release on June 12th, Aspen will be debuting an all-new cyber-punk action-adventure series, BubbleGun, by creator and writer Mark Roslan with art by Mike Bowden and David Curiel.

They like the tech, but live for the high stakes! Sisters Molli and Devyn, along with teammates Roman and Kyo—and a stockpile of cutting edge, cyber-punk technology, form a confident team of mercenary thieves able to take on the most formidable jobs around.
