Mark Hamill Says Romney Was Disrespectful, Patronizing and a Bully

Actor Mark Hamill joined Cenk Uygur, Jayar Jackson and Michael Shure to break down President Obama’s and Mitt Romney’s debate styles on Current TV‘s The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur.

Hamill said:

I love the idea of an open debate like in France …, but it’s almost like harassment. The president’s trying to get his answer together and (Romney interrupts) because it’s not coming fast enough for the CEO. … He then repeats the question over and over. It’s bullying, to me, of the highest degree.

Advice for Governor Romney, last time someone pissed off Hamill, he got some friends together, started intergalactic civil war and toppled an authoritarian regime. Imagine what he can do to you and your Bain buddies….

A Magic Binder Full of Women

During last night’s debate between Republican nominee, former Governor Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama, Romney claimed he brought “binders full of women” to his Cabinet selection. This took a life of it’s own online, with tumblr blogs being set up and memes launched in minutes. I fully expect this to be “the” Halloween costume this year. My favorite spoof going right now is A Magic Binder Full of Women taking women in politics and creating Magic: The Gathering cards based on them. Hilarious stuff.

Big Bird Reacts to the Presidential Debate

The first Presidential debate aired on Wednesday and the winner (or loser) of the night was Big Bird after Republican candidate Mitt Romney said he’d cut funding to PBS. Well, the folks at Sesame Street had a good sense of humor about it, tweeting the next day their thoughts.

Thursday’s Bain Supervillain Action!

On the same day Mitt Romney delivered his acceptance speech to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, the massive supervillain known as “Bain” appeared in New York City to offer his endorsement.

Addressing the crowd Bain bellowed:

I am Bain Capital, and today, I stand before you as proof that corporations are in fact people. Okay, maybe we are monstrous, cruel and sociopathic people, but still.

The 13-foot-tall supervillain, famous from his appearance in the recent Batman films, recounted the long personal history he shared with the candidate:

For years, Romney and Bain made a killer team. Together, we slashed paychecks, busted unions, gutted the workforce, and killed jobs by the thousands. We squeezed the life out of healthy businesses and left them for dead. Those were good times.

A member of the ominous “League of Shadiness” the ginormous speaker detailed how methods perfected at Bain Capital would be applied more generally during a Romney presidency:

Once we acquire this country, our first act will be to immediately fire all Americans. If you want to stay, you will just have to reapply for citizenship. Sure, individuals may suffer, but no question it will increase profitability over the long run.

Throughout the speech, hecklers who worked at Bain Capital-owned companies interrupted the massive creature with boos.

In concluding his speech the supervillain prodded the crowd to vote:

Why do you people always vote for the lesser evil? This time, just go all the way.

Come Out and See the Massive Bain Supervillain Congratulate Romney

On Thursday August 30, former Bain Capital CEO Mitt Romney will be officially anointed as the Republican candidate for President of the United States. That same day, a massive, 15-foot-tall supervillain dubbed “Bain” will be unveiled outside Bain Capital HQ on Madison Avenue. Since Romney headed Bain Capital, organizers of the event wanted to honor the achievements of Bain’s “longtime ‘partner in crime’ Willard Mitt Romney.”

In the press release Bain (the supervillain not the company) “gleefully” stated:

I have slashed incomes, smashed jobs, and torn working families to pieces. If Romney wins the election, it will be Dark Night indeed.

The plan is for a hundred workers to be at the event to challenge Bain, many sharing real life stories about their nightmarish experiences working for Bain Capital-owned businesses. Organizers have invited folks to come and help challenge “this sinister plan to take over our Democracy.”

WHO:  The corporate monster known as Bain, confronted by 100 workers, and you!
WHAT: A giant 13″ monster will deliver a speech in front of Bain Capital accompanied by his corporate henchmen.
WHEN: 12:30-1:30pm (Lunch break!)

The topic of Bain as a comic book villain has been discussed widely this summer as the villain in The Dark Knight Rises was named Bane.  This lead to calls of conspiracy by some. The event is supported by United New York.

Limbaugh Claims Bane and Bain is Too Similar For Coincidences

Bane (comics)Rush Limbaugh went on his radio show and rallied against The Dark Knight Rises, claiming conspiracy since the villain in the movie is named Bane and Mitt Romeny used to run Bain Capital. Limbaugh clearly thinks the American people are too dumb to know the difference.

His exact quote:

Do you think that it is accidental that the name of the really vicious fire breathing four eyed whatever it is villain in this movie is named Bain [sic]?

Rush decided to completely ignore the fact that the Batman villain was created in 1993 and chosen as a character in the movie at the latest of 2011. Surely DC Comics and director/writer Christopher Nolan were psychic and knew Mitt Romney would be the Republican nominee for President.

Limbaugh went on to wonder whether this will influence voters:

This movie, the audience is gonna be huge. A lot of people are gonna see the movie, and it’s a lot of brain-dead people, entertainment, the pop culture crowd, and they’re gonna hear Bane in the movie and they’re gonna associate Bain. The thought is that when they start paying attention to the campaign later in the year, and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain, Romney and Bain, that these people will think back to the Batman movie, “Oh, yeah, I know who that is.”  (laughing) There are some people who think it’ll work.  Others think you’re really underestimating the American people to think that will work.

Chuck Dixon, the co-creator of Bane responded to ComicBook.com about the controversy:

The idea that there’s some kind of liberal agenda behind the use of Bane in the new movie is silly. I refuted this within hours of the article in the Washington Examiner suggesting that Bane would be tied to Bain Capital and Mitt Romney appearing. Bane was created by me and Graham Nolan and we are lifelong conservatives and as far from left-wing mouthpieces as you are likely to find in comics.

As for his appearance in The Dark Knight Rises, Bane is a force for evil and the destruction of the status quo. He’s far more akin to an Occupy Wall Street type if you’re looking to cast him politically. And if there ever was a Bruce Wayne running for the White House it would have to be Romney.
