Long Beach Comic Con Announces Guests of Honor & New Initiatives and Teases Programming for September 27-28, 2014

Long Beach Comic-Con 2010To celebrate its sixth year, Long Beach Comic Con is unveiling new initiatives including the show’s first ever Guests of Honor, this year’s official sponsors including media sponsor the Los Angeles Times’ Hero Complex and programming devoted to a broad range of attendees — from cosplay enthusiasts to young adult readers. Long Beach Comic Con will be held on September 27 and 28, 2014 at the Long Beach Convention Center, where exhibiting publishers will include Archie Comics, Aspen Comics, Bottled Lightning, PaperFilms, Skybound Entertainment, Storm King Productions, Top Cow, and Valiant Entertainment, among others.

For the first time in its history, Long Beach Comic Con is announcing guests of honor for this fall’s show:

As in past years, attendees will be treated to a wide array of programming. Highlights include:

  • Panels devoted to fan favorite comic book characters including Batman, the Crow and Hellboy.
  • Comic Book Publisher Spotlights moderated by BLOODY DISGUSTING, COMICVINE, IGN, THE NERDIST and others.
  • Hero Complex moderated panels of pop culture, running the gamut from Robot Chicken to Young Justice to Women in Comics.
  • A Young Adult panel featuring best-selling novelists Leigh Bardugo, Robin Benway, Cecil Castellucci, Melissa de la Cruz, Michael Johnston, and Margaret Stohl
  • A Banned Books Week discussion led by the Newport Beach Branch Library
  • Cosplay panels.
  • Horror programming with guests like Dan Brereton (NOCTURNALS) and Mike Huddleston (THE STRAIN).
  • Kids programming with KaBOOM! and creators like Eric Esquivel (BRAVEST WARRIORS), Travis Hanson (TANNER JONES AND THE QUEST FOR THE MONKEY STONE), Mike Kunkel (HEROBEAR)  and Hannah Nance Partlow (ADVENTURE TIME). There will also be interactive panels where Tone Rodriguez will teach kids how to draw the Simpsons and Futurama characters and Peter Paul will teach “how to draw your dragon.”
  • Animation panels dedicated to popular cartoons like GARGOYLES, SPECTACULAR SPIDER MAN, YOUNG JUSTICE, X-MEN and DISNEY AFTERNOON, and appearances by Greg Weisman and the Man of Action Studio.
  • Screen Junkies Presents: Honest Trailers The Panel
  • #MakeComics workshops where aspiring writers and artists can learn from comic book greats including Jon Bogdanove (POWER PACK), Tim Bradstreet (HELLBLAZER), Brian Buccellato (DETECTIVE COMICS), Joshua Fialkov (THE BUNKER) and Whilce Portacio (THE PUNISHER). Over two days, workshops will walk through the entire #makecomics process: from writing and drawing to running a Kickstarter and even publicizing the comic.

Growth also extends to the show’s official sponsors. The CW’s The Flash, GenZe by Mahindra, the Laugh Factory, SGX Print, and the SUN NEWS have already signed on as official sponsors, and additional announcements are expected to follow in the coming weeks.

“Our ticket sales are significantly up from last year at this same time,” said Donato. “If you’re thinking about attending this year’s show, I recommend buying your tickets in advance before we sell out and arriving both days before the show opens.”

BOOM! Studios’ Booth, Talent, Panel, and Variants for Long Beach Comic Con

Award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios announced today it will exhibit at the 5th Annual Long Beach Comic & Horror Con, to be held during the weekend of Nov. 23-24 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif.

BOOM! can be found at booth #201 and will host creators Caleb Monroe and Eric M. Esquivel, plus sketch artists Hannah Nance Partlow and Travis Hill. In addition, a special LBCHC variant cover for newly launched series Protocol: Orphans (created by Peter Facinelli and Rob DeFranco, written by Michael Alan Nelson, and illustrated by Mariano Navarro) will be available for purchase.

Valiant Joins The 2012 Long Beach Comic & Horror Con!

Valiant Entertainment will be making its debut appearance at the Long Beach Comic & Horror Con this coming weekend on Saturday, November 3rd and Sunday, November 4th!

Hosted at the Long Beach Convention Center, Valiant will be setting up at booth #313 for a weekend packed full of guests, signings, and exclusive convention offerings! Aspen Bringing a Killer New Exclusive To Long Beach Comic and Horror Con

Aspen Comics is bringing a wide array of talent and an all-new exclusive to this weekend’s Long Beach Comic and Horror Con 2012. Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Vince Hernandez, Mark Roslan, J.T. Krul, Joe Benitez, Nei Ruffino, Ale Garza, Beth Sotelo, Lori Hanson, Jonathan Marks and more will be appearing at the Aspen Comics Booth #101 located at the entrance to the show floor.

The publisher will have a special Executive Assistant: Assassins #5 Long Beach Comic Con 2012 exclusive cover and print by Ale Garza and Peter Steigerwald, limited to only 300 copies for the issue, and 75 editions for the print. Both Garza and Steigerwald will be appearing at the Aspen Comics Booth to sign copies as well.

BOOM! Studios is returning to Long Beach Comic Comic and Horror Con. The BOOM! Studios booth, #301, will feature two exclusive variant covers, Bravest Warriors #1 and Supurbia #1. The Bravest Warriors #1 exclusive variant cover is from the sold out first print run. It’s also the first chance to get Supurbia #1, which will be debuting at the show two weeks before it’s official release date of October 24th. Aspen Comics Long Beach Comic Con 2011 Guests and Exclusives

Aspen is excited to attend the Long Beach Comic Con 2011 this weekend on October  29th and 30th, and will be bringing an all new exclusive comic book and print for the show. Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Vince Hernandez, Mark Roslan, Joe Benitez, Oliver Nome, David Wohl, Beth Sotelo, Scott Lobdell, J.T. Krul, David Schwartz and more creators will be on hand to meet and greet with fans at the Aspen Comics Booth #101 all weekend long.

The publisher will have an exclusive Charismagic #3 Long Beach Comic Con 2011 variant cover by Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez, limited to only 500 copies. Charismagic is Aspen’s all-new magical action-adventure series created and written by Vince Hernandez with character designs and illustrations by Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez.

Fans who missed their chance to score the latest convention exclusives at the New York Comic Con and San Diego Comic Con can also look forward to limited quantities of exclusive variants such as the new supernatural action-adventure Dead Man’s Run by Greg Pak and Tony Parker in association with legendary producer Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment, Haunted City by Chap Taylor, Peter Johnson and Michael Ryan, and Broken Pieces by creator and writer Mark Roslan with Micah Kaneshiro, as well as popular covers from this past summer’s Executive Assistant crossover, “The Hit List Agenda.”
