Saga’s Lying Cat Gets a Statue for Local Comic Shop Day

Image Comics/Skybound have revealed an exclusive Saga statue of the fan-favorite character Lying Cat in celebration of this year’s Local Comic Shop Day.

This exquisitely detailed, limited edition, black-and-white Lying Cat will be an eight inch resin statue, hand numbered, and limited to 300 pieces worldwide.

The LCSD Lying Cat statue (Diamond Code AUG168737) will be available on Saturday, November 19th at participating comic book retailers. The final order cutoff deadline is Monday, September 26th.

This year’s Local Comic Shop Day will be held on November 19, 2016 this year. This year’s event is being held the Saturday BEFORE Small Business Saturday. It’s the only comic book industry event created and run by retailers for retailers. Last year, 400 storefronts participated.

Exclusive Lost in Space Vinimate Lands on Local Comic Shop Day!

On November 19, 2016, comic book shops across North America will take part in Local Comic Shop Day, celebrating independently-owned comic book retailers everywhere. Participating stores have access to exclusive products, and this year Diamond Select Toys has announced that they have created an item exclusively for Local Comic Shop Day retailers: The Lost in Space Anti-Matter B9 Vinimate!

Part of the 4-inch Vinimates vinyl figure line, this variant version of B9 is sculpted in the Minimates mini-figure style, with an exclusive black-and-white paint job! This color scheme is based on the famous Lost in Space episode, “The Anti-Matter Man,” in which the robot B9 travels to an anti-matter universe and meets his cold-hearted anti-matter counterpart. The vinyl figure comes packaged in a full-color window box with a “Local Comic Shop Day®” logo sticker.

Anti-Matter B9 will go on sale on November 19, and only storefront retailers participating in Local Comic Shop Day will have the option of ordering this exclusive variant.

Moonshine Local Comic Shop Day Cover Revealed

Image Comics has announced a special cover of Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso’s forthcoming Moonshine #1 in celebration of this year’s Local Comic Shop Day.

The cover will feature black and white art by Frank Miller and will be available to comic shop retailers with Diamond Code JUL168777 and on shelves on Local Comic Shop Day—Saturday, November 19th.

American Gothic Press Joins Local Comic Shop Day

American Gothic Press is partnering with ComicsPRO for the first annual Local Comic Shop Day. The event, scheduled for November 28, 2015 at participating stores, has been publicized by ComicsPRO as a way to celebrate and appreciate independent comic shops for their donations to pop culture. Many publishers, including Marvel, BOOM!, Image, Oni, Black Mask, IDW, and Archie will be providing exclusive items for shops participating in the event.

American Gothic Press has created an exclusive Local Comic Shop Day cover by Jorge Marrero and Jenn Pham for Project Nemesis #2, depicting the kaiju Nemesis crushing a helicopter in all her sinister glory.

Project Nemesis is a six-issue adaptation of the bestselling novel by Jeremy Robinson, with art by Matt Frank and incentive covers by Bob Eggleton. The story tells of a government experiment in Maine gone horribly wrong that gives rise to a massive monster, Nemesis, who proceeds to terrorize New England. Issue #2 picks up the cliffhanger from the series debut and brings even more intensity to Jon Hudson and Ashley Collins’ hunt for whatever is killing scores of people on the East Coast.

Final order cutoff for Local Comic Shop Day exclusives is October 12, 2015.

Project Nemesis #1 will be available in stores and on Comixology on October 7, 2015.

Z2 Comics has announced that it is partnering with ComicsPRO for Local Comic Shop Day. Local Comic Shop Day is a brand-new event celebrating locally owned independent comic book specialty stores, celebrating their unique and vital role in being the primary fire-starters of pop culture. It takes place November 28th, also known as “Small Business Saturday.”

Fans can head to their local comics retailer for an exclusive, limited edition Welcome to Showside # 1 variant cover by Margaux Saltel – available only at participating Local Comic Shop Day retailers. Welcome to Showside is artist Ian McGinty’s creator-owned debut– and the debut title for Z2 Comics new comic book periodical line.
