Marvel has released a poster of I Am Groot revealing the release date. The show from Marvel Studios is a series of original shorts and will debut on Disney+ on August 10.
The show follows Baby Groot’s glory days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars.
It’s Disney+ Day and the digital streaming platform has dropped teases of what’s coming to the platform from Marvel and more.
The rumored continued of X-Men: The Animated Series is official and dubbed X-Men ’97 is coming in 2023.

Spinning out of Marvel Studios’ What If…? is Marvel Zombies! It’s unknown if the show will continue the story from the animated series, an adaptation of the comic series, or something else.
Secret Invasion got a plug.
During the Disney investor presentation, numerous announcements were made as to what to expect from Marvel Studios over the next years. Numerous first looks were released and updates to movies, television shows, and a whole lot of reveals.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has wrapped its production. The film is in theaters July 9, 2021.
Brie Larson will return as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in Captain Marvel 2. Nia DaCosta will direct the film and Larson will be joined by Iman Vellani, the new Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris who will play Monica Rambeau. Parris will debut as the character in WandaVision.
Captain Marvel 2 will fly into theaters November 11, 2022.
Hawkeye is currently filming. Jeremy Renner returns as the character and will be joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.
Additional cast include Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, with episodes directed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie.
Tatiana Maslany is now confirmed as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk… and Tim Roth is joining her!? Roth returns as the Abomination. Mark Ruffalo will also appear on the Disney+ series. It will be directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia.
Moon Knight is confirmed though no more details have been released.
Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury in the Disney+ series, Secret Invasion. Ben Mendelsohn will return as well as the Skrull Talos.
Dominique Thorne will step into the armor as Riri Williams in Ironheart! The character is coming to a series soon on Disney+.
Ironheart and… Armor Wars!? Don Cheadle suits up again as James Rhodes, aka War Machine. The classic story comes to the small screen of Disney+ as Tony Stark’s fear of his tech falling into the wrong hands comes true.
Hopefully it’ll be as much of a trainwreck as the Star Wars special, but in 2022 we’re getting The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special directed and written by James Gunn. You’ll be able to watch it on Disney+.
I am Groot! Baby Groot will get a series of shorts on Disney+.
Christian Bale has officially joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder as the villain Gorr the God Butcher. This will have a major impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thor: Love and Thunder comes to theaters on May 6, 2022.
Peyton Reed will return to direct the third Ant-Man film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer all return. Kathryn Newton joins the cast as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
And… the Fantastic Four are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe directed by Jon Watts!

When the Guardians of the Galaxy get caught in a wormhole, a smaller-than-normal Groot is separated billions of light-years away from the team. Falling to a planet below, Groot discovers he is on an entirely alien and unknown world full of strange creatures and societies. Seriously underdeveloped and with nobody who can understand him, Groot will need to make the journey to the center of this world and find the way back to his family!
Take the hilarious, fresh, and over the top I Hate Fairyland and mix in Baby Groot and you have I Am Groot, the new series that feels like it takes a one-note joke and attempts to run with it.
Written by Christopher Hastings I Am Groot #1 is cute and fun and not a whole lot else. If you like Baby Groot, you’ll like the issue. If you’re tired of him already, then you won’t. It really is that simple.
The story sees Groot up to no good as a child, pressing buttons he’s not supposed to (sound familiar?) and getting himself launched into a weird dimension where he’ll go on a journey with weird twisted creatures in a strange land (hence the I Hate Fairyland comparison).
With the fact our main character can only say three words, a lot of the story is left to artist Flaviano whose colors with Marcio Menyz breathe some impressive life into the comic. Everything is very expressive and again reminiscent of Skottie Young’s work (again with the comparison). That’s not a bad thing as I love Young’s work. Everything is over the top with a lot of the emotions and “words” of Groot expressed through his body language and eyes. The fact they’re able to “say” so much through that is actually impressive and the art is the draw of the book enhancing the cute tone of it all.
I Am Groot doesn’t break ground instead delivering a (too) familiar story with a character I’m already worn out by. It’s cute though and definitely a comic geared towards Groot fans or the younger set getting into comics. It’s one that might work as a digest or graphic novel, but the first issue is enough that I want to see where it all goes and if we can be delivered more than just three words over and over.
