Wizkids has released a preview of the Ragdoll figure for it’s upcoming Heroclix release DC 75th.

Heroclix RagdollFrom the Wizkids website:

As you can see, Ragdoll provides some great and inexpensive skills for your force, especially if you’re playing The Parademon from The Brave and the Bold expansion.  Even better, Ragdoll’s ability to tie up opposing pieces is excellent for just 46 points.  What’s more, if the opposing fig moves away, Ragdoll just holds tight and follows them thanks to his Won’t Let Go Special Power!

Wizkids has released a preview of the Deadman figure for it’s upcoming Heroclix release Brightest Day.

Heroclix Brightest Day DeadmanFrom the Wizkids website:

While Deadman probably won’t be eating any burgers during your games, he will help you dish out some hearty helpings of pain to your opponent’s figures!  His array of support abilities, as well as his very consistent combat values, allow for a host of tactical opportunities during your game!

Not to mention Deadman’s ability to summon friendly figures with the White Lantern Corps and the Brightest Day keywords! WOWZAS! Need some reinforcements? Deadman has your back!

Wizkids has released a preview of the Firestorm figure for it’s upcoming Heroclix release Brightest Day.

Heroclix FirestormFrom the Wizkids website:

The Fight for Control Trait represents Jason and Ronnie’s unbalanced control of the Firestorm Matrix, and allows you access to powers which could be very useful in your game.  Couple this with a dial allowing for many combat options, and you have a versatile and useful aerial figure.

Some mid-dial Running Shot ensures that Firestorm can still bring the fight to your opponents, and the Pulse Wave doesn’t hurt either!

Lastly, let’s not forget that Firestorm can remove those pesky walls or squares of Blocking Terrain your opponent’s figs keep hiding behind! Now your other attackers can take shots at their leisure and Firestorm can continue to support their efforts with that aforementioned Perplex! (Just make sure to roll for Perplex before you give him the Power Action to remove the walls/Blocking Terrain!)

Wizkids has released a preview of the Aquaman figure for it’s upcoming Heroclix release Brightest Day.

Heroclix Brightest Day AquamanFrom the Wizkid’s website:

First off, let’s look at that Trait: The Undead Sea certainly will have your opponent’s thinking twice when you pair Aquaman with other figures with the Atlantis Keyword on your force! The ability to deal 2 Damage in response to one of your figures being K.O.’ed is a great asset, and worked correctly, could be devastating to your opponents’ forces!Aquaman’s bag of tricks doesn’t end there though! As a Transporter, Aquaman also has access to the Move and Attack ability and is able to carry your other figures to where they can do the most good for your force!

Consistent combat values and solid powers make Aquaman an excellent choice for a secondary attacker and support piece (literally! He has Support on his late-dial!), as well as an excellent core for any Atlantis-Keyword-ed team!

And lastly. let’s not overlook that sinister tentacle rising form the Deep! Aquaman’s Tentacle Whip Special Power gives him the benefit of an 8 Range with an unblocked Line of Fire so long as his target occupies water terrain!

Wizkids has released a preview of the Hawkgirl figure for it’s upcoming Heroclix release Brightest Day.

Heroclix Brightest Day HawkgirlHawkgirl is a close combat fighter.  From the Wizkids website:

Her Master Aerial Combatant Trait is certainly useful when targeting your opponents’ fliers, and the opening click of Super Strength and Charge make for a great combined asset. Also, later on in her dial Hawkgirl demonstrates her skills with ancient weapons (represented by both Flurry and Blades/Claws/Fangs) as well as her decades of experience fighting hand-to-hand (Close Combat Expert).

Lastly, Hawkgirl’s consistent combat values  and the late dial Regneration helps ensure that she can continue the fight and bring justice on swift wings to those who oppose you!

Resident Evil Deck Building Game releases November 19, 2010

Official Press Release

Bandai announces the release of the RESIDENT EVIL™ Deck Building Game on November 19, 2010 and special pre-release promotions for Halloween Weekend 2010!

Cypress, CA – September 23, 2010 – Bandai America Inc. (Bandai) and Capcom Entertainment, Inc. (Capcom) are pleased to announce the RESIDENT EVIL™ Deck Building Game (DBG), scheduled for release on November 19, 2010!

In Capcom’s Resident Evil® video game series, a deadly virus has caused the dead to rise and infect any living thing they encounter!  Fleeing to a mysterious mansion, you must gather any materials you can find to protect yourself and fight for your survival against a legion of infected beings!

The RESIDENT EVIL DBG brings the story to life in a game of strategy where players construct their card decks while they play.  Choose one of your favorite characters from RESIDENT EVIL such as: Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, or Albert Wesker among others. Players start with only the most basic of items and weapons. As the game progresses, players build their arsenal with additional Weapons, Ammunition, Action or Item cards to customize their deck and improve their ability in defeating “the Infected”! Your deck will be your lifeline to survival.  How will you survive the zombie outbreak?

The RESIDENT EVIL DBG will consist of 250 playing cards, 3 different game modes (Story, Mercenary and Versus) and hundreds of possible scenarios within each mode for unlimited replay value.  No two games will ever be the same!

  • Story mode is the main version of the game where players must race to claim the best weapons, items, and ammunition before others get to it first. Quick thinking and a good instinct will help you survive the Mansion and be the one to escape to safety.
  • Mercenary mode is similar to Story mode but this mode rewards the players that take the offensive. Players must prove their skills by defeating as many zombies as they can in a limited amount of time. This mode can be played in teams.
  • Versus mode removes “the Infected” from the game and pits the human characters against each other in a battle for dominance. Players must watch their back as they attempt to defeat each other while staying alive themselves. Watch out because you may find that players are not as merciful as “the Infected”!

MSRP is expected to be $29.99.

Bandai is planning a full schedule of promotions and events that will lead to the big release on November 19th, 2010.  On Halloween weekend October 29th – 31st customers will be able to get a sneak preview of the game when demo copies are made available exclusively to hobby retailers nationwide.  After playing the game, consumers that preorder a copy before November 19th will receive 2 exclusive cards not available in the regular edition of the game!

Gen Con Review

The first two days of Gen Con are done and we’ve got lots of photos and video (as well as quite a few purchased items), but with a crap internet connection we’re not even going to try to upload anything.  But here’s our general thoughts of the show.

  1. It’s been about 11 years since I’ve been to a Gen Con and the professionalism has improved as well as the size of the show.  The card and miniature gaming area alone is the size of most show floors.
  2. Vampires are out and Zombies are in.
  3. Cthulhu is getting popular again based off of the games based on H.P. Lovecraft’s famous creation.
  4. I still don’t get LARPing.
  5. Card games look like they’ve settled into pretty set markets.
  6. There’s tons of great board and non-collectible card games that no one knows about.
  7. Kilts are in.  Cross dressing might be too, based on a large volume of gender bending folks walking around.
  8. Booth babes are present but not needed.
  9. The women have taken their foothold in the game industry based off of action we saw at various booths.
  10. Gen Con is still the best 4 days of gaming anywhere.

Expect a lot of coverage starting Monday, and maybe some from the floor updates from our iPad, as well as a pretty big announcement.

If you’re at the show, feel free to attempt to track us down and say hi!
