Shrub: The Collected Edition, Fanbase Press‘ latest Kickstarter campaign, collects the Graphic Medicine series exploring grief and connection, featuring all-new contributions from some of the biggest names in entertainment and the field of mental health. We have the exclusive reveal that  Dr. David J. Schonfeld, MD, FAAP (Director, National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles) will be contributing an all-new resource guide on processing grief.

In this middle grade adventure, readers will join Shrub who is, well… a shrub… for a cross-country road trip to Hollywood! Join Shrub and a grieving brother and sister as they head out in search of connection. On their journey, pit stops, wacky plant enthusiasts, uprooting, and re-routing abound.

The series was created and written by Emmy Award nominee Shane Portman, illustrated by Andy Alves, colored by Sophia Du and Celia FitzGerald, lettered by Oceano Ransford, and with consultation from comics librarian Moni Barrette.


Shrub explores the various ways that we allow grief to take root, inspired by writer Shane Portman’s experience with the loss of his father. The series features “Letting Grief Take Root” essays written by individuals with a personal and/or professional connection to grief who relate Shrub’s story to their own lived experience. Essayists include Shane Portman and his family, as well as grief doula Kat Primeau and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Ariel Landrum (Geek Therapy).

Additionally, every issue of the series includes a fold-out page within the story’s narrative.

Striving to destigmatize loss and promote understanding of the diverse ways that people of all ages grieve, the expanded print edition will also feature a study guide by literacy advocate Creators, Assemble! Inc., an informational essay by clinical psychologist and media consultant Dr. Drea Letamendi, and much more.

Wandering Planet Toys has turned heads with their line of collectible action figures that celebrate the pop culture icons of yesteryear, and now co-founders Gavin Hignight and Chris “Doc” Wyatt are teaming up once again for an all-new and entirely unexpected line of retro-style action figures. The Planetoid Raiders are the coolest, quirkiest space travelers ever known to the universe! Who are these intergalactic aliens? And who (or what) are The Arcade Raiders? Discover all of that below and support Wandering Planet Toys’ crowdfunding campaign to help make them a reality!

Inspired by Kenner Toys’ 1978 Star Wars action figures, and their off-the-wall competitor Tomland Toys’ Starroid Raiders – each Planetoid Raider is a lovingly designed tribute to classic scifi toys and a striking piece of contemporary art. Fans can collect each limited edition, 5-point articulated, 1:18 Scale figure on Kickstarter, including brave Captain Oton, heroic Helmsman Ryot, WarLor the Mysterious Space Traveler, the trusty rusty robot Yogun, and the rest of the team!

The Planetoid Raiders don’t ride alone! Wandering Planet is also introducing fans to the all-new Arcade Raiders, which will come bagged with a hang tag, like Japanese sofubi figures. Retro arcade cabinet blind box packaging will be available as a stretch goal after the campaign raises $65,000. The Planetoid Raiders Kickstarter campaign will launch with a single Arcade Raider available as an add on, and for each funding milestone raised above the funding goal, backers will unlock additional Arcade Raiders that will be made available as a new add-on option to everyone!

The figures in Planetoid Raiders: Wave 1 will be available on retro-inspired card backs or pre-packed in a metal lunchbox-style collector’s case. Wandering Planet Toys will also be creating Planetoid Raiders baseball hats, and an 8 page “Sloog Interlude” mini-comic titled written by Chris “Doc” Wyatt with art by Chris Anderson available exclusively through the Kickstarter campaign. 

In 1977, the year before Kenner officially licensed their classic Star Wars figures, Hong Kong-based indie toy manufacturer Tomland Toys released a wave of action figures loosely inspired by Star Wars. The Starroid Raiders were cheaper and leaner than their Kenner counterparts and could be bought in drug stores and gas stations at low cost. These figures were ugly space weirdos that definitely resembled aliens from a galaxy far far away… just maybe not the exact galaxy fans were thinking of. While many viewed these otherworldly characters as “knock-offs,” their attention-grabbing head sculpts and bright color schemes made them lovable. These misfits and underdogs of the toy box have become highly sought after by collectors around the world. Wandering Planet Toys’ Planetoid Raiders action figures honor Tomland Toys’ wacky tradition of retro cosmic madness. The odd space characters sport designs that look to the past, while also playing with modern design concepts that breathe new life into their retro-futuristic aesthetic.

Clover Press has announced Reminiscent: Art of Zeronis, a stunning art book showcasing the signature work of one of the most celebrated character and concept artists in modern gaming—Paul “Zeronis” Kwon. The 152-page deluxe hardcover book presents a wide-ranging selection of Zeronis’s art across professional projects, fan art, and personal pieces. Featuring dynamic portraits, striking character concepts, and original designs, the book offers a rare look at Zeronis’ creative evolution and highlights his passion for storytelling through art. The crowdfunding campaign has passed its goal and runs until Friday, October 2 2026 12:00 AM EDT.

Paul Kwon, known professionally as Zeronis, is a concept artist specializing in character design for the video game industry. Zeronis attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, then later built his reputation at Riot Games, where he created fan-favorite League of Legends characters like Ahri, Vi, and Gwen, along with the widely beloved Star Guardian series and the virtual K-Pop group, K/DA. His work has since extended to major titles such as Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor. Known for his ability to fuse semi-realistic rendering with stylized design, Zeronis creates characters that feel both larger than life and emotionally grounded.

The upgraded edition of Reminiscent: Art of Zeronis is housed in a limited edition slipcase, and select tiers will also include exclusive print sets, sticker sheets, a collectible numbered lithograph, and high end acrylic prints, making this a must-have for fans, collectors, and aspiring artists alike.

In Flight 111, Swiss comic artist Talel Aronowicz confronts the unspoken tragedy that has shaped her life. For decades, her grandparents’ deaths in that crash were a taboo–never spoken of, never understood. Through evocative artwork, journal-like reflections, and intimate storytelling, she explores grief, memory, and the long shadow of loss, bringing readers along as she pieces together what really happened and what it meant.
