The panelists are experts from the ranks of Comic Book Women, an organization of nearly 300 individuals that advocates for greater opportunity, visibility, and recognition for women, as well as trans, genderqueer, and non-binary individuals in the comic book industry.

As part of its proactive efforts to achieve gender equity in programming at comic book conventions, Comic Book Women teamed up with ReedPop and Emerald City Comicon to create panels in which women in comics can share expertise and advice with aspiring and established comic book creators alike.

Writer Mairghread Scott said in the release:

We didn’t feel we needed to do more ‘women in comics’ panels. Instead, this programming centers on specific topics in comics, presented by women with a wealth of experience in the industry.
