Vault Announces Mirka Andolfo Incentive Covers for I Walk With Monsters #1

Vault Comics has announced two new gorgeous Mirka Andolfo incentive covers for I Walk With Monsters #1.

Mirka’s cover art will come in three different versions: a regular cover will be available as a 1:15 variant, and a deluxe foil edition printed on thick card stock will be available as a 1:30 variant. There will also be a third, one-per-store virgin variant that will be automatically sent to stores who match or exceed their orders for Giga #1.

I Walk With Monsters #1 is a thrilling, brutal, gorgeous rural horror story unlike anything on the stands.  This comic seizes hold of you from the very first page, and never lets go. The first issue sets in motion the monstrous conflict toward which the series builds, and there’s no escaping until the grim conclusion.

In Jacey’s past is the Important Man who took away her brother. Now Jacey has David, who sometimes transforms into a terrifying beast. Together, they’ve found a way to live to hunt, sniffing out men who prey on the vulnerable. But Jacey and David are about to run into the Important Man again. From Paul Cornell (Wolverine, Doctor Who, Elementary) and Sally Cantirino (Last Song, We Have To Go Back) comes a haunting story about the monsters that walk beside us all, and sometimes lurk within.

I Walk With Monsters is written by Paul Cornell, drawn by rockstar artist Sally Cantirino, with colors by Dearbhla Kelly, letters by Andworld, and design by Tim Daniel.

Dan Abnett Heads to Barsoom for Dejah Thoris

Dejah Thoris is back in a brand new ongoing series by sci-fi superstar Dan Abnett, launching this December!

Writer Dan Abnett and his fellow creators are heading to Barsoom to chronicle the latest tales of Dejah. His co-pilot for this mission is artist Vasco Georgiev. The crew is rounded out by colorist Dearbhla Kelly and letterer Simon Bowland. Barsoom has always been a dying world, teetering on disaster, but it may be closer to death these days. Dejah Thoris has been many things in life; a wife, a mother, royalty and an adventurer. Now her role as a scientist must take center stage, as she attempts to investigate why her homeworld is freezing. Other skills come into play when it’s discovered that political factions may be hiding the secrets of this global catastrophe. Glittering palace intrigue and visceral adventure abound in this new series, as Dejah joins her fellow Women of Dynamite “trinity” of Vampirella and Red Sonja.

Besides her kickass abilities, acute intelligence, leadership abilities and charm, Dejah Thoris is of course renowned for her beauty. Dynamite has assembled a team of four cover artists for this first issue that are upheld by fans as masters of beautiful heroines. Painter Lucio Parrillo is a natural choice, with his decade-long attachment to the franchise, having drawn countless covers for Dynamite’s first foray into Barsoom. On the other hand, Joseph Michael Linsner has tragically only drawn one Dejah cover before, so Dynamite is correcting this egregious wrong. Even worse than that, Billy Tucci has plenty of experience drawing powerful women, but has never drawn the Princess of Mars. Completing the set is a breathtaking wraparound cover by the one and only Adam Hughes! Dynamite will also be offering an extremely limited black-bagged risqué version for those who want to appreciate Dejah’s full beauty in a manner more in line with Burroughs’s original vision. Cosplayer Mai (@maidenhellxo) returns to Dejah with another cover and the first cosplay cover on a solo Dejah Thoris series!

Mark Russell’s Red Sonja Collected for the First Time in November!

Dynamite has revealed the first collection of Mark Russell‘s acclaimed run on Red Sonja for release in November.

The volume, titled “Scorched Earth,” reprints issues 1 through 6 of the currently ongoing series and the Lord of Fools one-shot special. This tale of metal and blood chronicles the She-Devil of the Hyrkanian Steppes through becoming queen of her homeland, political and physical bouts with Dragan the Magnificent of Zamora, the introduction of her nephew Kryon, past and present tangles with supernatural forces and much more! At nearly 180 meaty pages of storytelling, Scorched Earth is a great value at only $19.99.

This story is delivered as only the Eisner-nominated writer Mark Russell and artist Mirko Colak could deliver. Not to be discounted for their similarly acclaimed contributions are colorist Dearbhla Kelly and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou – also an Eisner-nominated critic by night! Artists Bob Q and Katie O’Meara make additional contributions in the special and in critical flashbacks. The tome is all wrapped up in Amanda Conner and Paul Mounts‘s breathtaking cover from the second issue.

Red Sonja and Bettie Page Celebrate Halloween with a Pair of One-Shots

Savage Tales: A Red Sonja Halloween Special

Dynamite is delivering a fright-filled pair of Halloween themed special one-shots starring Red Sonja and Bettie Page!

In Savage Tales: A Red Sonja Halloween Special, writer Mark Russell brings in artist Jacob Edgar to tell an extra-length spooky story. Dearbhla Kelly and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou also jump over from the regular series for this essential tale for fans of the She-Devil with a Sword. All underneath a striking cover from Erica D’Urso, drawing inspiration from the original Savage Tales #1.

This one-shot perfectly complements issue 9 of the ongoing series, out the same month. While that issue has Sonja returning to the Sorcerers of Wigur-Nomadene, Savage Tales flashes back to their first encounter. At this point, Sonja is not yet a legend, but a brute full of anger and ambition. Savage. Everyone’s favorite fiery heroine tries to convince the sorcerers to bring her family and friends back to life.

In the Bettie Page Halloween Special, a mysterious force is hunting students at an exclusive Upstate New York college. Just the case for Bettie to investigate, and she’ll be enrolling in Werewolf 101. The supermodel/superspy’s chronicler David Avallone contributes this full-length story with artist Roy Allan Martinez. Bettie is used to men being beasts, so this issue turns that metaphor up to 11. In a bonus short story, writer Erica Schultz and artist Fernando Ruiz spin a yarn of aliens, classic cars and a sci-fi double feature at the drive-in theater.

The issue features a cover by fan-favorite Bettie artist John Royle and another from Reilly Brown. Last year’s Halloween Special was a bucket of fun and kicked off the whole next era of Bettie’s adventures, so fans shouldn’t dare miss this one!

Savage Tales: A Red Sonja Halloween Special and the Bettie Page Halloween Special are slated for release in October 2019.

Dynamite Reunites Russell and Q for Red Sonja One-Shot and Upcoming Arc

This July, Dynamite will once more reunite the acclaimed creative team of Mark Russell and Bob Q for the special one-shot Red Sonja: Lord of Fools.

Lord of Fools features a captivating cover by Christian Ward, who has been stunning with his covers on the ongoing series. Spinning directly out of June’s Red Sonja #6, the oversized issue includes two special, can’t-miss stories.

First, in the eponymous tale, Mark Russell and his The Lone Rangercollaborator Bob Q execute a full length story further developing the swords and sorcery political intrigue that has fans savoring the series. While Dragan the Magnificent is busy warring with Sonja the Red, his son Cyril is back at the capital palace of the Zamoran Empire. The high priest Oracon regales him with the philosophy of the Lord of Fools, and this may yet reveal a deep secret that could unravel Dragan’s entire house of cards.

In a second short tale, Russell joins artist Katie O’Meara to tell the lore building story of Cerkus, Sonja the Red’s tongue of fire. Both stories are complemented by the unparalleled talent of series regular colorist Dearbhla Kelly and letterer Hassan Ostmane-Elhaou.

Following Lord of Fools, Bob Q will take take over as the primary artist on Red Sonja from Mirko Colak for issues 7-9, then for Colak to return for issue 10. With the seeds planted in Lord of Fools and perhaps even some hints in his prior flashback scenes, fans will not want to miss Bob Q’s upcoming arc on the series.

Check out a handful of work in progress pages from both Bob and Katie, with letters by Hassan.
