Atari Poster Book Features 40 Pages of Ready-To-Display Atari Masterpieces

Last year’s release of Dynamite Entertainment‘s Art of Atari was indisputably one of the most talked-about releases of the year, collecting production and concept artwork, photos, and marketing materials from the video game pioneer. In April 2017, Dynamite will release the Atari Poster Book, curated by Art of Atari author Tim Lapetino, which collects some of the most iconic images from the golden age of gaming!

From the arcade to the living room, Atari is one of the most recognized names in the world. Since its formation in 1972, the company pioneered hundreds of now classic titles including Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, and so many more.

The artwork of Atari inspired a generation and created a bridge from the simple on-screen graphics of its early games to the imaginations of eager gamers. Now, Dynamite Entertainment proudly brings the most iconic, mind-blowing video game illustrations to posters, each one easy-to-remove and perfect for display, showcasing the tremendous talent of Atari’s greatest artists!

Dynamite Entertainment’s Atari Poster Book features 40 pages of incredible artwork, and will be released in June 2017 at finer comic shops and bookstores everywhere.

Swordquest Launches in May with a Special 25-Cent #0 Issue

Dynamite Entertainment continues its partnership with Atari, one of the world’s most recognized publishers and producers of interactive entertainment, to create a new comics line based on beloved Atari titles. In the early 1980’s, as video games lit up living rooms across the country and licensed comic books saw prominence in the industry, Atari released their own based on their popular line of titles. Now, Dynamite Entertainment brings fans Swordquest comic we’ve been waiting for since 1983!

Peter Case was a boy on a quest… the quest to win the prizes from Atari’s Swordquest challenge! He was counting down the days to the release of the final game, AirWorld, only to be shattered when the news surfaced that it would never be released. Now Peter is an adult… and things aren’t going well. The bad news is he has to move back in with his mother. The good news is she still has all of his old Atari stuff. With nothing else to look forward to, his obsession with Swordquest is reignited, in a more daring — and fantastic — way!

Written by Chad Bowers and Chris Sims and art by Scott Kowalchuk, Swordquest makes its triumphant return to the printed page at a special introductory price of just 25 cents!

Swordquest #0 is slated for release in May.

Tuesday’s Twitter #comicmarket discussion was pretty fast a furious with lots of new participants and some lurkers coming out of the woods.  A lot of the discussion was interesting but my main question of what stores are doing to encourage their customers to spread the word remains unanswered.  Guess, I’ll keep pressing for that question.

Today is also new comic day, what are you picking up?  While you contemplated what you’re going to purchase this week, here’s the news you might have missed.
