HAUNTED: Mary Shelley and the Creation of Frankenstein

HAUNTED: Mary Shelley and the Creation of Frankenstein

Publisher: Humanoids
Creative Team: (w/a) Koren Shadmi
Launch Date: Soon – March 25
Risk: Medium/High – While they have run and delivered previous campaigns, there are currently two that have been funded and yet to be fulfilled and will not for many months. This can be a warning sign.

Humanoids has announced a forthcoming Kickstarter for Haunted: a brand new bio-comic on Mary Shelley, the visionary young woman who penned Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus at eighteen and changed the world.

After critically-acclaimed releases such as The Twilight Man: Rod Serling and the Birth of TelevisionLugosi: The Rise and Fall of Hollywood’s Dracula, and All Tomorrow’s Parties: The Velvet Underground Story, Humanoids and writer-artist Koren Shadmi wanted to focus on a critical female figure in the pop culture zeitgeist.

Timed to Women’s History Month, this project sheds light on Shelley’s upbringing and does not shy away from her strained marriage to Percy Shelley which was colored by tragedy, multiple miscarriages and poverty. That said, it focuses predominantly on her creative conception of the seminal work, even featuring the monster himself as a recurring character in the graphic novel as seen in the below preview pages.

Years in the making, the campaign is set to go live on Kickstarter on March 25, as a quieter, yet triumphant finale to this past year’s mania catalyzed by Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride

To find the ancient dagger needed for this killing, Bix has chased a ghost, had his arm ripped off, thrown a cat-burglar off a building, shaken down mystics, been brain-probed by a nine-year-old witch, and is now in the clutches of the mysterious society of monsters known as The Council Macabre. With the help of Diego, the rockabilly vampire, Bix discovers the identity of the killer who has picked up where his long-lost brother left off in a secret lair beneath the streets of Harbor City.

Issue #4 also continues the eight-page backup Zombietown, featuring art by Argentinian artist Gonzalo Ruggieri (Rumble, Convert, Two Moons), which follows Detective Maritza Ramirez deep into the undead-controlled quarantine zone known as Z-Town, where her search for the truth behind her father’s disappearance puts her face-to-face with Il Cosa Muerte, the zombie mafia!

Demonheart is a 3-book codex with over 450 pages, a new class, 7 new domains, 66 new subclasses, a Hellish setting, a full adventure, and more for Daggerheart.

It will include unusual mechanics, like instructions for turning player characters into demons, for example. Centered on narrative play, Demonheart’s story evolves through the choices players make. Players actively shape the tone of the game by building Hope or inviting Fear, turning every roll into a meaningful story.

  • Three books, each 150 pages
  • Demonheart supplement book for new mechanics
  • Demonheart setting book with descriptions of Hell and its inhabitants
  • New Daggerheart content

Fireside Games Launches the 2nd Edition of Hotshots

Hotshots

From the creators at Fireside Games comes a deluxe edition release of Hotshots, a cooperative, press-your-luck board game where players become an elite crew of firefighters battling a raging forest fire. The deluxe edition of Hotshots will launch on Kickstarter April 21, 2026.

In Hotshots, 1–4 players step into the boots of highly trained wildfire specialists known as Hotshots, each with a unique ability and role on the crew. Players roll dice to contain the flames, cut firebreaks, and call in vehicles before the blaze overtakes the forest. Every roll is filled with tension, making every decision matter. If you fail a task the fire spreads, scorches the land, and pushes the team closer to losing everything. In this co-op game you either beat the blaze, or burn together.

The original version of this game was nominated in 2017 for Origins’ Best Family Game Award, and this Kickstarter campaign will update it for a whole new generation of players. Updates include enhanced game components, improved clarity, LED light-up fire tokens, and more.

Each session of the game begins on a changing forest made of modular tiles that flip when scorched, showing the battle between fire and crew. Players roll dice to match firefighting icons, press their luck to extinguish as many flames as possible, and coordinate their actions to win as a team or lose everything together when the forest burns out.

Hotshots plays in 45–60 minutes and is recommended for ages 10 and up.

Kickstarter and Extras
The crowdfunding campaign will spotlight the Deluxe Edition, which includes:

  • LED light-up flame tokens
  • Upgraded firefighter miniatures
  • Tile frames with connectible edges

Those interested in joining the crew can follow the prelaunch page now to receive an exclusive Hotshots Badge Patch,

Dreadquarters, a New Supervillain Tabletop Game from Headlock Games launches in April

    Dreadquarters

Evil has never required this much teamwork. From the wicked minds of Headlock Games comes Dreadquarters, a 1-4 player strategy game of villainous cooperation and tactical defense, launching on Kickstarter April 7, 2026.

In Dreadquarters, players take on the roles of supervillains who have been “strongly encouraged” to cooperate while establishing a new shared evil lair. Each villain brings their own unique deck of cards, playstyle, minions, and objectives. Objectives include building doomsday devices, harvesting souls, and hatching insect swarms all while working together to defend your lair from waves of do-gooders aiming to destroy it.

15+ artists have contributed to Dreadquarters, each bringing their own distinct style and imagination to its world of villains. Every card, token, and board is a piece of original art, handcrafted without the use of any AI.

Each round, players expand their wing of the lair with bizarre rooms, reinforce them with over-engineered upgrades, and deploy their minions to work stations, city raids, or last stands.

When the heroes arrive, the villains’ traps trigger, and combat erupts. Everything either works together beautifully or collapses. With dozens of villains, cities, and scenario combinations, no two lairs will ever look, or collapse, the same.

Dreadquarters plays in 60-120 minutes and is recommended for ages 14 and up.

Exclusive: Jonathan Djob Nkondo’s Peaceful Remission and Wandering Deluxe Slipcase Cover Revealed!

Oni Press and Magnetic Press will soon be launching a Kickstarter campaign for Worlds Between Worlds – two stand-alone graphic novels written and drawn by internationally acclaimed animator and artist Jonathan Djob Nkondo, who is known for his work on Scavengers Reign, League of LegendsLove, Death & Robots, and several short works for FXX and MTV. Peaceful Remission and Wandering represent two distinct, introspective approaches to science fiction from a master of the craft.

In 2025, the celebrated animated series Scavengers Reign premiered on HBO, earning acclaim for its breathtaking, eerie world‑building and introducing fans to the art of Jonathan Djob Nkondo, whose work as an animator, storyboard artist, director, and designer helped shape the show’s atmosphere and tone. Nkondo’s clean and fluid linework, meditative pacing, and his fascination with the unspoken inner lives of characters are woven deeply into Scavengers Reign and all of his work. Nkondo is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary animation, and now, U.S. readers can dive into his breathtaking comics as the Worlds Between Worlds crowdfunding campaign will offer readers an intimate look at the ideas and aesthetics that have made his animation work so compelling.

Set in a sleek satellite home orbiting Earth, Peaceful Remission follows elderly couple Marlène and Jerry Nomo, whose quiet life is disrupted by a mysterious nighttime rumble. But the real tension lies not in the noise but in Marlène’s simmering frustration with Jerry’s passivity. The incident becomes a catalyst for emotional confrontation, revealing the cracks in their long-standing relationship. When Jerry’s obsession with a recent discovery leaves Marlene responsible for his health and well-being, their seemingly ordinary tasks—shopping, driving, caregiving—are refracted through a futuristic lens, emphasizing the emotional weight of routine and the quiet heroism of unspoken love. Encapsulating themes of conjugal fatigue, silent devotion, and the illusion of tranquility, this surreal, contemplative work is told through clean, futuristic interiors contrasted with intimate character framing. In this fragmented yet lyrical tale that alternates between dialogue and silent observation, Nkondo uses the sterile calm of space as a metaphor for emotional distance, crafting a story that feels both timeless and eerily current.

Set in a world where the surface has become a vast, arid desert dotted with strange geometric creatures and billabongs, Wandering imagines a society that has retreated underground. Beneath the scorched crust, life continues in sprawling subterranean complexes—theaters, malls, food courts, and highway interchanges—forming a claustrophobic echo of the world above. Nkondo weaves a visionary story following the wandering paths of two men, each shaped by their respective environments—one in the arid wastelands above, and one in the urban sprawl below the surface. Though they never meet, their lives mirror and resonate with each other, creating a haunting sense of synchronicity and missed connection. Themes of alienation, routine, freedom, and the trappings of modern life turn this textless, nonlinear, and atmospheric graphic novel into an unsettling contemplation of the trappings we choose to surround ourselves with.

Peaceful Remission and Wandering will both presented as unique, unwrapped hardcovers, with exposed binding and a color cardstock sleeve encasing each book. This somewhat-raw design juxtaposes a “scavenged” artifact feel with the sleek futuristic elements within each story setting. These 6.5×9” greyscale graphic novels are true works of art, which will also be available in a Limited Box Set featuring a sturdy illustrated slipcase, a signed and numbered bookplate, and a limited edition 48-page softcover art book by Nkondo.

We have the exclusive reveal of the cover for the deluxe slipcase featuring the two graphic novels. Check out all of the covers below and make sure to sign up on Kickstarter so you don’t miss out when it launches.

Exclusive: Get a look at The DC Art of Bruno Redondo Dust Jacket

Clover Press has announced The DC Art of Bruno Redondo, the second volume in the The DC Art Of… books, the recent line of high-end boutique art books showcasing the very best artists to craft the DC multiverse. Three-time Eisner Award-winning artist Bruno Redondo has built a world-class career perfecting his art for DC’s comics in the 21st century, and now, The DC Art of Bruno Redondo collects his very best work from the first era of an already impressive career. With over 200 pages, the 9”x12” volume highlights Redondo’s defining runs on Injustice and Nightwing, as well special selections from Justice LeagueBatman: Black & WhiteHarley Quinn: Black, White & Red; and much more. Head to Kickstarter to sign up for the pre-launch page ahead of the campaign’s launch.

After making a name for himself on titles like Human Target (with Len Wein), Push, and Batman: Arkham Unhinged, Bruno Redondo joined his Star Wars: Darth Maul collaborator Tom Taylor (DCeasedAll-New Wolverine) to take the reins of Injustice: Gods Among Us, elevating a digital-first video game tie-in comic to a fan-favorite series with a fiercely devoted readership. The scope and tenure of the story also provided the perfect testing ground for Bruno to experiment with and hone his signature style of fluid, unencumbered pencil work combined with a precision sense of design. After Injustice’s conclusion, Bruno lent his name to other high-profile DC series, including Justice League (with Scott Snyder), Titans (with Dan Abnett), and Suicide Squad (again with Tom Taylor). Beginning with Nightwing #78, Bruno and Tom Taylor began what quickly became one of the seminal runs on comics’ first sidekick, Dick Grayson. Their take on the former Boy Wonder was refreshingly bright for a bat book, in both narrative tone and visual style, and put Dick in the comics spotlight for the first time in years. The unique kinetic language and attention to detail that Bruno brought to the character helped the series top itself month after month and, ultimately, earn Eisner Awards for Best Continuing Series and Best Single Issue. Bruno would also take home the Eisner for Best Cover Artist.

The DC Art of Bruno Redondo will feature a collection of Bruno’s extensive work with DC, as well as an introduction by Bruno’s frequent creative partner, #1 New York Times-bestselling writer Tom Taylor. The campaign will also feature extras, including rarely-seen sketches and commissions, Redondo’s Nightwing covers, a fold-out edition of the iconic Nightwing #87, a sticker pack, a poster pack, and more, available in Clover Press’ traditional options of hardcover, dust jacket, slipcase, and signed slipcase editions.

We have the exclusive reveal of the dust jacket which features some of Redondo’s amazing art. You can sign up now so you don’t miss out when it launches.
