Fully Loaded

Jimmy Broxton, one of the pre-eminent British comic artists of our time, is launching his first crowdfunding campaign today for his first full length creator owned graphic novel, Fully Loaded on the Zoop crowdfunding platform.  The book is a 100-page deluxe softcover, written and drawn by Broxton, available exclusively on Zoop by Broxton’s new publishing line, Verity Comics.

The book is a Neo-noir, Cyberpunk crime thriller in the vein of  Blade Runner and Sin City.  It’s not hyperbole to say that this art is some of the best comic artwork that is on the market today.  Art to die for, a story to kill for, and a shattering finale you wouldn’t see coming in a 100 years.

Would you choose to live forever in a future where everything that’s cruel, criminal and corrupt is the order of the day?

Carson Blake certainly didn’t.

A former special forces operative turned gun for hire is lured out of retirement to save the family of a man who once saved his life. He must face his own demons as well as those around him as he’s drawn into a brutal web of deceit and betrayal, where the worst excesses of human greed and desire extend from the darkest alleys to the glittering palaces of the authoritarian elite.

It’s 2065, Carson Blake is 100 years old, fully loaded, and tired of asking nicely.

That’s Some Business You’re In

That’s Some Business You’re In is essential for any fan of Bob Fingerman’s work, this career memoir details his 40 years of toiling in comics, and boasts a huge amount of art, much of which is presented for the first time and scanned from the originals. Take a trip through the beloved cartoonist’s artistic journey — and buy some of his rarely offered original art or signed comics while you’re at it!

Blessed and cursed with a memorably comical name, Bob Fingerman was fated to be a cartoonist. And that’s what he’s done with his life since the moment he could first grasp a crayon! 2024 is a milestone for Fingerman: his 40th anniversary of working professionally as a writer and artist. Starting his career, in 1984, working for the legendary Harvey Kurtzman on the short-lived humor anthology, NUTS!, then cutting his teeth as a regular for Cracked magazine, continuing on through the sewers of adult publications, and along the way working for pretty much every comic publisher (Marvel, DC, Vertigo, Archie, Eclipse, Fantagraphics, Dark Horse, Heavy Metal, IDW, etc.), Fingerman has cut a curious swath through Comicdom with his idiosyncratic style and scripts.

That’s Some Business You’re In is a career-spanning art book, brimming with content that even though old will be new to most readers. Plus, tons of recent art. It also is a damned good read, with a foreword by Bill Sienkiewicz, then starting with a detailed career memoir, and followed by individual sections highlighting and elaborating on specific topics and phases, from student years, to his time as “one of the usual gang of idiots” in MAD magazine, to his signature works like Minimum Wage, Recess Pieces, and the more recent Dotty’s Inferno.

Boasting a huge amount of art, much of which is presented for the first time scanned from the originals, warts and all, “Artist’s Edition” style, as well as archival materials and tear sheets, That’s Some Business You’re In is essential for any fan of Fingerman’s work, and also for those unacquainted, as a deep dive to whet their appetites for more!

Going Green

In a world where composting human remains is a growing trend, what happens when our loved ones return, growing out of their composted remains into the people they once were?

The team behind Going Green explore this concept with their forthcoming original graphic novel, now live on comic book crowdfunding site Zoop. Rising star artist Vincenzo Federici joins co-writers Scott Duvall and novelist and indie filmmaker Sean Reliford for a story rooted in family, death, and how we deal with both.

Going Green is the supernatural family drama of Locke & Key meets the eco-horror of Annihilation in a modern-day monster comic with heart. This is a tale of family, loss, and second chances in a strange new world where the dead emerge from soil derived from their composted remains, giving them life anew.

Our story begins in the Pacific Northwest after the Dunn children suffer the tragic loss of their father. Instead of burying him, they go the route of an affordable new method of laying your loved ones to rest called Going Green, which composts the remains into soil as a greener alternative. Shortly after, their lives are uprooted as their formerly deceased dad is reincarnated as a plant-hybrid creature.

Meanwhile, a dangerous, kaiju-like hive mind comprised of the reanimated remains of the town’s deceased, is beginning to cause havoc as an internal battle wages within its ecosystem of conflicting personalities.

Vincenzo and Scott are re-uniting after their first collaboration on the Bruce Campbell-inspired comic crossover, Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep. Rounding out this groovy reunion are colorist Michele Monte and Ringo award-winning letterer Taylor Esposito, plus Eisner-nominated cover artist Sara Richard.

In addition to the 100-page graphic novel available in both print and digital (which includes 84 pages of story plus extras), add-ons will include stickers, signed and numbered art prints, original art commissions, signed copies of Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep #1, the chance to cameo in Going Green, plus more surprises and collector’s items signed by legendary comic book creators.
