A routine raid in a popular MMO video game takes a deadly turn in Zero Instance, an exciting new five-issue sci-fi horror thriller comic book series from acclaimed storyteller and video game writer Frank Barbiere (Astonishing Times) and award-winning game writer and comics newcomer Stephen Rhodes, making his creator-owned debut with the series. Featuring art by Vic Malhotra issues #1-2 and Eoin Marron issues #3-5, colors by Lauren Affe, letters by Taylor Esposito and covers by Vic Malhotra, Zero Instance starts with a bang as the final boss escapes the screen and bleeds into the real world.

For Rhys, Everon Online is the one place where everything makes sense. So when his raid group achieves the impossible — a world’s-first kill on the game’s legendary final boss — it should be a triumph. Instead, something goes wrong in the final moments, and the fallout follows them offline. A sci-fi thriller about what we bring back with us from the worlds we escape into.

Teen Jinx Holliday is Riverdale’s go-to babysitter. The (often unruly) kids that she watches over always change, seemingly for the better. The key to her success? Her book of unique fairy tales, all of which tell a moralistic story—usually grim, gruesome ones that frighten the children with Jinx as the star of each and every one. What sinister, I mean, serious lessons will she teach her wards?

Jinx Grim Fairy Tales

Archie Horror returns with Jinx’s Grim Fairy Tales!

Archie Comics is kickstarting Halloween early with the August release of Chilling Adventures Presents… Jinx’s Grim Fairy Tales. The one-shot anthology features a trio of stories hosted by a grown-up version of the classic Archie character Jinx Holliday, better known as Li’l Jinx, and it leads a full season of new horror releases to be announced in coming weeks.

The issue opens with a framing story by Magdalene Visaggio and Craig Cermak in which babysitter Jinx keeps her unruly charges in line by sharing some especially grim moralistic fairy tales. Visaggio and Cermak also tell one of those sinister stories, “The True Story of Cantanella.” Li’l Jinx first appeared in Pep Comics #62 by Joe Edwards back in 1946. She earned her nickname by being born on Halloween and kept up an appropriately mischievous spirit in a decades-long comics run.

Writer/actor James III and Eva Cabrera contribute “Suzie & the Monkey’s Paw” to the anthology, which is rounded out by “Will the Real Sorcerer Please Stand Up?” by Joe Corallo and Evan Stanley

Jinx’s Grim Fairy Tales releases August 17 in comic shops nationwide, and will boast a cover by Vic Malhotra with an open-to-order variant cover by Archie Horror mainstay Francesco Francavilla.
