Deadpool & Wolverine holds on to first place while The Crow tanks

The top three films were a repeat at the weekend box office with Deadpool & Wolverine holding on to first place once again. The film added $15.2 million to its domestic total which is now $603.8 million. Internationally, the film added $24.3 million over the week to its total to bring that to $658.4 million for a worldwide total of $1.262 billion.

Alien: Romulus hung on to second place with an estimated $9.3 million to bring its domestic total to just under $91 million. Internationally, the film grossed $41.9 million over the week to bring that to $194.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $285.7 million.

It Ends with Us barely held on to third place with an estimated $7.43 million. Domestically, the movie has grossed $135.8 million. Over the week, it added $28.2 million to its international total which is now an even $150 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $285.8 million.

Reagan debuted in fourth place with $9.2 million domestically total and $7.4 million over the weekend.

Twisters improved one spot to round out the top five with an estimated $7.2 million to bring its domestic total to $259.6 million. Internationally, the movie has grossed $98.7 million for a worldwide total of $358.3 million.

In comic film news…

The Crow will wind up being one of the biggest flops of the year. It dropped down to #12 after debuting at #8. Over the weekend it grossed an estimated $1.8 million to bring its domestic total to $8.6 million. Internationally, the movie has grossed $4.6 million for a worldwide total of $13.2 million.

Blue Lock: Episode Nagi remained at about $1.9 million domestically and gained about $500,000 internationally to bring that total to $12.1 million for a worldwide total of $13.9 million.

Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle remained just under $7.1 million domestically and 1nternationally it gained about $7.2 million internationally to bring that to $93.3 million for a worldwide gross of just over $100.4 million.

It was a solid weekend for Disney which took the top two spots at the weekend box office. Alien: Romulus opened in first place with an estimated $41.5 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $66.7 million for a worldwide debut of $108.2 million.

Deadpool & Wolverine slipped to second place adding $29 million to its domestic total to bring that to $545.8 million. Internationally, the film added $61.6 million over the week to lift that to $596.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.143 billion. It is now the highest grossing rated R film worldwide of all time.

It Ends with Us slipped one spot to third place with an estimated $24 million to bring its domestic total to $97.8 million. Over the week, it grossed $52.2 million to bring its international total to $82.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $180 million.

Twisters came in fourth place with an estimated $9.8 million to bring its domestic total to $238.4 million. Over the week, it grossed $7.2 million internationally to bring that to $95 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $333.4 million.

Wrapping up the top five was the 15th anniversary re-release of Coraline which has grossed $11.3 million at the domestic box office.

Deadpool & Wolverine crossed the $1 billion mark this weekend taking first place for the third weekend in a row, fending off some unexpected tough competition. The film added $54.2 million domestically to bring that total to $494.3 million. Internationally, the movie added $106.7 million over the week to bring that to $535.2 million. It has now grossed just under $1.030 billion, the second film to do so this year.

It Ends with Us opened in second place with $50 million domestically and $30 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $80 million.

Twisters came in third adding $15 million domestically to bring that total to $222.3 million. Over the week, it added $9 million internationally to bring that to $87.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $310.1 million.

Borderlands opened with an abysmal $8.8 million domestically and no international number reported.

Rounding out the top five was Despicable Me 4 which grossed an estimated $8 million to bring its domestic total to $330.1 million. It also grossed $38.8 million over the week internationally to bring that total to $477.1 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $807.2 million.

It was no surprise that Deadpool & Wolverine was again the top film at the weekend box office. The movie grossed an estimated $97 million dropping 54.1% from the previous weekend. It has grossed $395.6 million domestically after two weeks. Internationally, the movie added $195.2 million over the week to bring that total to $428.5 million bringing its worldwide gross to $824.1 million. It’s now the highest grossing R-rated film domestically beating The Passion of the Christ though has a bit to go to topple Oppenheimer and Joker from the top two spots worldwide.

Twisters held on to second place adding $22.7 million to its domestic total which is now $195.6 million. Internationally, it grossed $12.5 million to bring that total to $78.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $274.4 million after three weeks.

Trap debuted in third place with $15.6 million domestically and $4.4 internationally for a worldwide debut of $20 million.

Despicable Me 4 slipped one spot to fourth place with $11.3 million to bring its domestic total to just under $314 million. Over the week, it grossed $51.6 million internationally to bring that total to $438.3 million for a worldwide total of $752.2 million.

Inside Out 2 rounded out the top five with an estimated $6.7 million to bring its domestic total to $626.9 million. Internationally, it added about $36 million to its total to lift that to $928.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.555 billion.

Deadpool & Wolverine dominates the weekend box office shattering records

As expected, Deadpool & Wolverine ruled the weekend shattering records and beating the projected gross. The film opened domestically with $205 million. That’s the eighth best debut ever and the biggest opening for an R-rated film ever. The original Deadpool held that record with $132 million. In addition, the movie grossed $233.3 million at the international box office for $438.3 million globally. The movie was projected to open with $350 million to $390 million globally. It’s already the fourth highest grossing film domestically this year and sixth worldwide. Deadpool went on to gross $782.8 million worldwide in 2016 while Deadpool 2 grossed $785.9 million worldwide in 2018. This film is well over halfway there after the opening weekend and marks a further return to form for Disney who has a smash hit with Inside Out 2.

Twisters fell to second place in its second weekend with $35.3 million domestically to bring that to $154.9 million. Over the week, it added $23.6 million internationally to bring that to $66.3 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $221.2 million after two weeks.

Despicable Me 4 came in third with an estimated $14.2 million. Domestically, the movie has grossed just under $291 million. Over the week, it grossed $71.7 million internationally to lift that to $386.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $677.7 million worldwide.

In fourth place was Inside Out 2 which added $8.3 million domestically to its record shattering total. The movie has grossed $613.4 million. Internationally, it grossed $45.3 million over the week to bring that to $892.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.506 billion, making it the highest grossing film domestically and worldwide this year so far.

Longlegs rounded out the top five with $6.8 million to bring its domestic total to $58.6 million. Over the week, it grossed $5.4 million internationally to bring that to $8.2 million and $66.8 million worldwide.

Twisters was at the top of the box office this past weekend. The film grossed an estimated $80.5 million domestically and $42.7 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $123.2 million.

The semi-sequel opened in a similar amount to the original Twister in 1996. That movie opened with a about $41.1 million in 1996 which is about $82.2 million in today’s dollars. That movie went on to gross $241.8 million domestically in the dollars of that day (about $484.2 million in today’s dollars) and $494.6 million worldwide.

In second place was Despicable Me 4 which slipped one spot from the previous weekend. The movie grossed $23.8 million to bring its domestic total to $259.5 million. Over the week it grossed about $88.3 million to bring its international gross to just under $315 million.

Inside Out 2 remained in third place with an estimated $12.8 million to bring its domestic total to $596.4 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $69.4 million over the week to bring that to $846.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.443 billion.
