The world of Star Wars is one where most fans are committed to the main storyline. As the story of the Twins and the Rebellion has enveloped our imaginations for close to 50 years. It is within the original trilogy only paid off the prequels where we got answers to many of our burning questions. The most recent trilogy was more so , a passing of the guard.
What the new canon did provide, was a way for fans to explore more of the universe in new and exciting ways. As we got introduced to Doctor Aphra, and got to see the underbelly of the galaxy. We also got to meet some dastardly bounty hunters, like Cad Bane, who was most recently seen in The Book Of Boba Fett. We got to fall in love with different characters that are not decades old. In Star Wars: Halcyon Legacy #1, another cast of characters within the SW universe, that we get tot root for.
The reader is brought onboard the starcruiser Halcyon, where hundreds of families are on vacation, looking for a temporary escapade from their troubles. Despite their wishes, trouble finds them nonetheless, as a pirate starship group known as the Nihil has hailed them on communications looking for a spy who is part of the crew. Thankfully, there are a pair of Jedi onboard, Master Nib Assek and Padawan Burr, who calls for help and fights off the boarding party. By issue’s end, they repel the pirates who got onboard but right when they think they were safe, another threat lurks close.
Overall, Star Wars: Halcyon Legacy #1 is an engaging debut issue that is better written than most tie-ins. The story by Sliney is pure fun. The art by the creative team is beautiful. Altogether, a good beginning what looks like to be precursor to the upcoming attraction.
