One of Them Days edges out an opening weekend first place win

Update: Mufasa: The Lion King in the end topped the weekend box office with $12.1 million compared to One Of them Days‘ $11.8 million.

It was a close one for the top of the box office but for now, it looks like One of Them Days took the top of the box office with $11.6 million. Things might change when the final numbers are released but the movie just barely beat Mufasa: The Lion King by around $70,000. There was no international gross reported.

Mufasa: The Lion King remained in second place for the second week in a row with just over $11.5 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $205.8 million. Over the week, the film grossed $31.3 million internationally to bring that to $382.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $592 million.

Wolf Man debuted in third place with $10.6 million domestically for $12 million total since it opened and $4.8 million internationally for a worldwide total of $16.8 million. It’s hard to say if this was good or bad But with a reported budget of just $25 million, the movie doesn’t need a ton to be profitable.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 continues to bring in the gold rings. It grossed $8.6 million domestically to bring its domestic total to $216.5 million. Internationally, the move grossed $23.2 million to bring its total to $203.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $422.4 million worldwide.

Rounding out the top five was Den of Thieves: Pantera which opened in first place the previous week. The film grossed $6.6 million to bring its domestic total to $26.2 million. Internationally, the film has grossed a little over $5 million for a worldwide total of $32.4 million.

In comic film news…

Kraven the Hunter grossed just $106,000 after six weeks. Domestically, the movie has grossed $24.7 million. Internationally, the movie gained a bit, about $1.1 million, to have grossed $36.1 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just $60.8 million after five weeks.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim grossed a bit domestically to bring that to $9.2 million. Internationally the film didn’t gain anything and remains at $10.8 million. The movie has grossed just $20 million.

Venom: The Last Dance remain at $139.8 million domestically. Internationally, it grossed about $400,000 over the week to bring that to $338.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $478.5 million.

Solo Leveling: Reawakening remained at $3.4 million domestically. Internationally it gained a little and has now grossed just under $3 million for a worldwide total of a little under $6.3 million.

Den of Thieves 2 took the top spot at the weekend box office with an estimated $15.5 million domestically. In 2018, the first film opened with a similar amount, $15.2 million and went on to gross $44.9 million domestically and $80.5 million worldwide. No international gross has been reported.

Mufasa: The Lion King slipped one spot to come in second place with $13.2 million domestically to bring that total to $188.8 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $43.1 million to lift that to $350.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $539.7 million.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 also slipped one spot to come in third with an even $11 million domestically. There it has grossed $204.5 million. Over the week, the movie grossed $35.5 million internationally to lift that to $180.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $384.8 million.

Nosferatu came in fourth with $6.8 million to bring its domestic gross to $81.8 million. Internationally, the film got a big boost over the week with just under $23 million to lift that to $54 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $135.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was Moana 2 with $6.5 million to bring its domestic gross to $434.9 million. Over the week, it grossed $19.6 million to bring that to $554.9 million to bring its worldwide gross to $989.8 million.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 slowed down and came in second place with $21.2 million to bring its domestic total to $187.5 million. Over the week, the film added $74.8 million internationally where it has now grossed $148.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has brought in $336.3 million.

Nosferatu remained in third place with $13.2 million to bring its domestic total to $69.4 million. Internationally, the movie took off with just under $28 million over the week to bring that to $31 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $100.4 million after 2 weeks.

Moana 2 came in fourth with $12.4 million to bring its domestic total to $425.2 million. Internationally, the movie added $47.4 million to lift that to $535.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $960.5 million worldwide.

After a rough opening weekend, Mufasa: The Lion King improved in its second week increasing by 4.8% and coming in second. The movie grossed $37.1 million to bring its domestic total to $113.5 million. Over the week, it grossed $127.3 million internationally to lift that to $214.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $328 million.

Nosferatu debuted in third place where it grossed $21.2 million over the weekend and $40.3 million domestically so far. Internationally, the movie has grossed a little over $3 million for a worldwide total of $43.3 million.

Wicked improved an impressive 37.4% in its sixth week to gross $19.5 million domestically bringing its total to $424.2 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $22.7 million over the week to lift that total to $210.1 million. The movie has grossed $634.4 million worldwide.

Moana 2 rounded out the top five and it also gained an impressive 37.8% in its fifth week. The movie added $18.2 million to its domestic total which is now $394.6 million. Over the week, it grossed $56.8 million internationally which is now $487.9 million total. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $882.5 million.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 had a solid debut weekend. The film opened with $62 million domestically and $1.4 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $63.4 million. The first film opened in 2020 with a little over $58 million domestically going on to gross $319.7 million worldwide while the sequel opened with $72.1 million in 2022 and went on to gross $405.4 million. It’s clear this franchise has a fandom that can be relied on.

Mufasa: The Lion King… can we make murdered jokes? The film’s opening was a bump in Disney’s uneven year grossing just $35 million domestically. Internationally, it did much better with $87.2 million for a worldwide debut of $122.2 million. It’s possible the film was hurt with another “kid’s” movie opening and the international gross hints at that. We’ll see if this film has legs over the holiday weekend.

The top two spots for the weekend box office wasn’t much of a surprise. Moana 2 took the top spot again in its third week. The movie added $26.6 million to its domestic total which is now $337.5 million. Over the week, the film added $79.5 million to its international total which is now $379.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $717 million after just three weeks. The first film grossed $643,332,467 worldwide in 2016 which is about $845.7 million in today’s dollars. It’s likely the sequel will gross that and beyond by the time things are done.

Wicked came in second place with $22.5 million to bring to lift the film to a little over $359 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $30.9 million over the week to bring that to $165.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $525 million.

Kraven the Hunter debuted in third place with a rough $11 million domestically and $15 million internationally. It’s the third misfired in Sony’s attempt to expand the “Spider-verse” even further. Morbius debuted in 2022 with $39 million domestically and went on to gross $167.5 million worldwide. Madame Web debuted earlier this year with $15.3 million domestically and went on to gross $100.5 million. Will Kraven the Hunter even break $100 million worldwide?

It’s a hell of a fall for the franchise which dominated with its live action films. Did the animation kill it? The lack of starpower?

But still, the movie has grossed a bit over $300 million domestically after a little over two weeks. Internationally, the movie grossed $134.7 million over the week to bring that to an even $300 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed a bit over $600 million so far.

Wicked took second place with an estimated $34.9 million to bring its domestic gross to $320.5 million. Internationally, it grossed $38.2 million over the week to lift that to a little over $135 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $455.6 million.

Gladiator II remained in third place with $12.5 million domestically. It has grossed $132.7 million after three weeks. Internationally, it grossed $26.9 million over the week to bring that to $235.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $368.4 million.

Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 debuted in fourth place with $9.3 million.

Red One rounded out the top five with a little over $7 million and it has now grossed $85.8 million domestically. Over the week, it grossed $5.6 million to bring that total to $78.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $164 million.

The Crow‘s domestic total remained unchanged with being just under $9.3 million. Internationally, the movie remains at just over $14.7 million. The worldwide total is now just under $24 million.
