Natural disasters are woven into humankind’s collective DNA. From the ancient Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh to the Book of Revelation, apocalyptic literature has permeated every chapter of humankind. But what if those disasters weren’t natural? What if those events were man-made? With a best-seller, a bottomless bank account, and a bombshell girlfriend, reclusive author / adventurer Kain Sennoa is the portrait of modern-day success — but he hides a dark, eternal secret no one knows… at least no one on Earth. Unbeknownst to humankind, an off-world war has raged between two immortal races to control our solar system — a millennia long battle that will finally come to an end here on Earth. As a super-human assassin closes in on the last survivors of an ancient, elemental race, Kain is forced to choose between revealing his true past, or sacrificing the woman he loves!

Review – Twilight Guardian #1

Twighlight Guardian #1Such a fantastic first issue.  Twilight Guardian #1 is what I’m looking for in a first issue.  It sets up a mystery, gives an entertaining and likable main character and some great art to boot.  This Top Cow Pilot Season winner is written by Troy Hickman with art by Siddharth Kotian.

The tale of a lone, dedicated hero patrolling her nine block suburban neighborhood captured the imaginations of fans during 2008’s Pilot Season and after heated voting emerged as one of the winning titles.

Now creator and writer Troy Hickman (Common Grounds) returns with a four issue limited series, which will delve into Twilight Guardian’s past, her motivations for crime-fighting, and even give her an arch-nemesis in the terrifying Dusk Devil! Joining Hickman is up-and-coming artist Siddharth Kotian (Eat The Dead). Issue #1 features a beautiful painted cover by Eric Jones (Hack/Slash, Unknown).

The series is only four issues, but there’s something I really like about it.  I can guess where it’s going and time will tell, but overall I really enjoy it.  It features a strong woman in the lead roll and a mysterious villain.  There’s just something to it.  The art is pretty solid, writing interesting and overall it’s another fascinating look as to what makes a hero super.
