More Spooky Legends in the Next Chapter of the YA Queer Graphic Novel Series Hollow

The wait is finally over! The story of Hollow continues from the New York Times bestselling writer Shannon Watters, co-writer Branden Boyer-White, and fan-favorite artist Berenice Nelle in Hollow: The Woman in White.

It’s been a quiet, perfect winter so far in the town of Sleepy Hollow. Izzy and Vicky’s relationship is amazing… except for some disastrous dates, which don’t mean anything…right? (Right?!) And best friends Croc and Leon are rock-solid, trying to make a hit out of their new ghost-hunting web series…until jealousy springs up and threatens to ruin things with Croc’s girlfriend Marjorie (and maybe things between him and Leon, too–if only Croc would notice).

Then, in a string of spooky events, Leon vanishes near Raven Rock, a spot made famous by hundreds of years of sinister legends. Luckily, the friends have a history of solving supernatural riddles, and help from their own ghostly ally–the Headless Horseman of the Hollow himself!

But the longer Leon is missing, the more dire things seem. And the deeper the friends get into the mystery of Raven Rock’s most famous ghost, the Woman in White, the more they realize they may be up against a force none of them are able to defeat…

Hollow: The Woman in White features cover art by acclaimed artist Naomi Franquiz and will be available in comic shops July 30, 2025 and in bookstores August 5, 2025.

Isabel “Izzy” Crane and her family just moved to the infamous Sleepy Hollow, but as a slick skeptic from the city, she’s too busy adjusting to the change of scenery for ghost stories-they’re not real, after all.

Then she meets Vicky Van Tassel (yes, THAT Van Tassel) and the loveable prankster Croc Byun. Vicky’s weariness with the legend turns to terror when the Horseman himself shows up, along with a curse set on destroying the Van Tassel line.

Now, they have only until Halloween night to break the curse. What an inconvenient time for Izzy to develop a massive crush on Vicky! Can Izzy and her new friends uncover the mystery of the Headless Horseman before it’s too late?

New York Times-bestselling writer Shannon Watters (Lumberjanes) and debut author Branden Boyer-White are joined by artist Berenice Nelle (Wanderlicht) in a modern coming of age sequel to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Secrets Abound in Queer YA Graphic Novel Hollow

BOOM! Studios has revealed a new look at the original graphic novel, Hollow. From Shannon Watters, the co-creator of the bestselling worldwide phenomenon Lumberjanes, and co-writer debut author Branden Boyer-White, rising star artist Berenice Nelle, and colorists Kaitlyn Musto, Kieran Quigley, and Gonçalo Lopes, comes a supernatural queer romance and adventure set in the infamous town of Sleepy Hollow, available in September 2022.

Isabel “Izzy” Crane and her family have just relocated to Sleepy Hollow, the town made famous by—and obsessed with—Washington Irving’s legend of the Headless Horseman. But city-slicker skeptic Izzy has no time for superstition as she navigates life at a new address, a new school, and, with any luck, new friends. Ghost stories aren’t real, after all…

Then Izzy is pulled into the orbit of the town’s teen royalty, Vicky Van Tassel (yes, that Van Tassel) and loveable varsity-level prankster Croc Byun. Vicky’s weariness with her family connection to the legend turns to terror when the trio begins to be haunted by the Horseman himself, uncovering a curse set on destroying the Van Tassel line. Now, they have only until Halloween night to break it—meaning it’s a totally inconvenient time for Izzy to develop a massive crush on the enigmatic Vicky.

Can Izzy’s practical nature help her face the unknown—or only trip her up? As the calendar runs down to the 31st, Izzy will have to use all of her wits and work with her new friends to save Vicky and uncover the mystery of the legendary Horseman of Sleepy Hollow—before it’s too late.

Hollow features main cover art by acclaimed artist Naomi Franquiz. It comes to comic shops on September 28, 2022 and book stores on October 4, 2022.
