Elon Musk Invests $1 billion in Skydance
Rumors of investment have swirled for some time, but reports are coming out “according to people familiar with the matter” that Elon Musk has invested roughly $1 billion in Skydance.
Chatter began in late September that Musk would become part of the group funding the deal. Musk joins Skydance CEO David Ellison’s dad Larry Ellison, Saudi Arabia, Redfin, and more.
Larry Ellison has been close with Musk and invested in Musk’s plan to take over Twitter and also invested in Tesla in 2018. He also has served on that company’s board.
With the investment by Musk, it’s expected that Skydance will provide media for Musk’s ventures to help him diversify his offerings.
It feels that it’s guaranteed that with the Musk investment that the use of AI will be forced upon Warner Bros. Discovery and its numerous parts which includes DC Comics. There’s also little doubt that Musk won’t meddle in the new company and fears are skewed news coverage to further fit his goals and needs. One infamous story includes Musk interfering in Cyberpunk 2077‘s development. He also has been on unhinged rants about Universal’s successful film The Odyssey going so far to make an “accurate” AI version of the story himself using Grok.
Larry Ellison’s future is heavily invested in AI. As the founder of Oracle, Ellison has pivoted towards AI and bet the farm on it. Musk himself has tied his future and fortune in AI. Redfin and Saudi Arabia have also invested heavily in AI. With the newly formed Skydance, the group has a playground to “prove” it works for entertainment in hopes of selling it to others. David Ellison also has described the venture as a “tech company” with its future savings to help bring down its costs and debt resting upon it.
