Eternals Takes the Top of the Box Office Continuing Marvel’s Dominance

Eternals was the top of the weekend box office earning an estimated $71 million. It continues Marvel’s dominance with its films holding the top five debuts of the year. The film also earned $90.7 million at the international box office delivering a worldwide debut of $161.7 million. While the debut was on the lower end for Marvel this year, it’s still one of the best of the year as a whole.

Dune dipped to second place adding $7.6 million to its domestic total bringing that to $83.9 million. Over the week, the film added $19.5 million to its international total to bring that to $246.5 million.

No Time to Die held steady in third place adding $6.2 million. Domestically, the film has earned $143.2 million. Internationally, the film earned around $51.9 million to bring its international total to $524.3 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $667.5 million after its first month.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage improved to fourth place with an estimated $4.5 million. Its domestic total now stands at $197 million. Over the week, the film added about $22.2 million to its international total to bring that to $227.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $242.6 million.

Ron’s Gone Wrong rounded out the top five earning an estimated $3.6 million in its third week to bring its domestic total to $17.6 million. The film has also grossed $28.9 million at the international box office to bring its worldwide total to $46.5 million.

In comic films…

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission dropped from fourth place to eleventh spiraling 75.2%. It earned an estimated $1.6 million to bring its domestic total to $9.8 million. Internationally, the film added about $400,000 over the week to bring that to $29,802,371 and its worldwide gross to $39.6 million.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings grossed an estimated $502,000 million to bring its domestic total to $223.8 million. The film also grossed about $3.2 million at the international box office where it now stands out $204.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $427.9 million.

Black Widow looks like it has ended its domestic run. Domestically, the film has grossed a little under $183.7 million. The international total has gained a little and stands at $196 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $379.6 million.

Old looks like its run has completely ended. Domestically, the film has grossed $48.2 million. Internationally, the film stood at $41.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $90.1 million.

The Suicide Squad remained steady during the week. Domestically, the film has grossed $55.8 million. The film has also earned $111.6 million internationally. Worldwide, the film has grossed $167.4 million.

Initial numbers have 40 films earning $109,528,413 from 32,960 theaters. That’s a massive increase from last weekend’s 43 films which earned $64,461,210 from 34,678 theaters. The average earning was $3,323 this past weekend, an increase from the previous weekend’s $1,858.85.

The film’s debut is a mixed one with some praising the amount and others saying it fell short of expectations. The x-factor is of course how well the film also did on HBO Max where it debuted simultaneously. Internationally, the film earned $180.6 million to bring the grand worldwide total to $220.7 million after one week. The result is a headscratcher as to what it means for the film’s sequel.

Halloween Kills dipped to second place dropping a whopping 70.7%. The film eared an estimated $14.5 million to bring its domestic total to $73.1 million. Internationally, the film earned about $12.3 million over the week to bring that total to $17.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $90.9 million after two weeks.

No Time to Die dropped to third place adding $11.9 million to its domestic total. That now stands at $120 million. Over the week, the film grossed $57.3 million internationally to bring that total to $405.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $525.7 million.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage came in fourth place earning an estimated $9.1 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $181.8 million. Internationally, the film grossed $55 million over the week to lift that total to $170.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $352.4 million.

Rounding out the top five was Ron’s Gone Wrong which earned $7.3 million in its first weekend. The animated film also grossed $10 million to bring its worldwide total to $17.3 million.
