Top Pick: Lumberjanes #3 (BOOM! Studios) – People often describe a series as “what we need more of” in comics. This series is absolutely that and more. The comic follows a group of girls at summer camp is a mix of Scooby Doo and Buffy created by a kick-ass female creative team. It’s the diversity we’ve been looking for plus the quality comic we should all hope for. The best of all worlds, it is a must add to everyone’s pull list and one of the hottest comics of the year.

Armor Hunters #1 (Valiant) – Valiant has the most cohesive and entertaining super hero universe from a publisher. This new series is a centerpiece of their summer event that sees a group come to Earth to take care of the X-O Manowar armor.

The Empty Man #1 (BOOM! Studios) – BOOM! is known for quality horror comics and Cullen Bunn creates quality comics period. Put them together and you get this interesting series that features the art of Vanesa R. Del Rey.

Manifest Destiny #7 (Image Comics) – This re-imagining of Lewis and Clark’s journey has been amazing with each issue.

Red City #1 (Image Comics) – A new series from Image that seems like an intriguing detective series set in the midst of a civil war.

She-Hulk #5 (Marvel) – One of the best debuts of All New Marvel NOW! features fantastic art and the amazing writing of Charles Soule. A mix of super hero antics with the backdrop of how it’d affect one’s real life.

Starlight #4 (Image Comics) – Mark Millar’s series takes Flash Gordon and updates it for modern times. Each issue has been beyond solid with a touch of nostalgia.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise #30 (IDW Publishing) – IDW’s Transformers universe has been amazing and the new direction its moving has made each issue of each series a great read.

United States of Murder Inc #2 (Marvel/Icon) – Brian Michael Bendis has given us an alternative world where the mob has taken over.

The Walking Dead #128 (Skybound) – Where does the series go after All Out War? Last issue gave us a hint, and injected the series with amazing juice. If you’ve wondered what the series is about, it’s a perfect time to hop on.
