Kickstarter Spotlight:
Muktatafaht: A Middle East Comics Anthology
Devised by the Harvard University Center for Middle East Studies (CMES) Outreach Center, the comic “features the work of almost a dozen different Middle Eastern artists, ranging from humorous insights into daily life in Beirut and Cario to responses to the occupation of the Palestinian territories to personal reflections on life in Jordan. From the political to the fanciful, “the high brow to the raised brow.”’
The options are a bit pricey, but if you’re into foreign works, this is a good one.
Best Pledge: $50 – lots of thanks and a digital copy of the book (104 pages).
PANDORA: End of Days the graphic novel is a story that revolves around the legendary Mayan end of times myth… as the most amazing archaeological discovery of our time– a sarcophagus from an ancient civilization that predates the Egyptian Pyramids by more than fifty thousand years–is being broadcast as a live public exhibit on national TV.
But in their haste to reveal a glimpse of what could be the origin of mankind, the scholars of the OBARI Foundation instead unleash an ancient plague upon the modern world.
The art looks awesome, nuff said.
Best Pledge: $15 – a printed signed copy of the graphic novel and a digital version of volume 1 and 2 and more.
Jamestown tells the story of six rebel survivors in a deadly race to stay ahead of a government’s sinister reach and still explore new territories for colonization.
Rebuild or revenge is the question for six survivors thrown into chaos and hoping to one day turn the tables on the government that betrayed them…
The story sounds very cool and the fact the goal is to get enough of an overprint to take this to conventions is a perfect example of what Kickstarter is for.
Best Pledge: $10 – A digital and autographed print copy of the book.
A manga story about four kids whose lives are extraordinary. The art looks pretty cool and you have to support two young female comic creators.
Best Pledge: $15 – a hard copy of the book
