DC announces Kingdom of Zod

DC has announced “Kingdom of Zod,” a new crossover storyline unfolding across SupergirlAction Comics, Superman Unlimited, and Superman in August and September. Featuring the talents of writers Joshua Williamson, Sophie CampbellMark Waid, and Dan Slott, along with artists Eddy BarrowsJoe QuinonesMontos, and Rachael Stott, “Kingdom of Zod” crossover pits Superman and DC’s Super-Family against General Dru-Zod as all the major threats from across the world of Superman in DC’s All In era collide!

The story begins on August 12 in Supergirl #16, when a mysterious military coup dangerously destabilizes the Kryptonite Kingdom of El Caldero. Supergirl assembles her own strike team—a Super-Force including Superboy-Prime, Conner Kent, Tomorrow Man, Steel, and more—to infiltrate the occupied territory. Mark Spears will provide foil variant covers for all four titles.

The Kingdom of Zod crossover continues on August 19 in Superman Unlimited #16, where Zod reveals the true scope of his plan and unleashes a dangerous Kryptonite infection that spreads across the world. The first month of “Kingdom of Zod” concludes on August 26 with Superman #41, as Superman, Supergirl, Superboy-Prime, and the Super-Family confront Zod in a battle that will reshape the future of the House of El!

The story continues through September with chapters in Supergirl #17Action Comics #1102Superman Unlimited #17, and Superman #42, bringing the Kingdom of Zod arc to its explosive conclusion in a one-shot, Superman: Kingdom of Zod Special, on September 30.

“Kingdom of Zod” brings together DC’s full Super-Family for a high-stakes battle against one of Superman’s greatest foes and features the return of the Man of Tomorrow at a moment when the DC Universe needs him most. Will the Super-Family be able to stand against Zod?

Kill or Be Killed, a Chilling New Title from AWA and Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment

The rules are simple: kill a complete stranger and livestream the murder, or lose everything. Just when you thought it was safe to scroll again, Artists Writers and Artisans, Inc. (AWA) and Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment are back to upend your nightmares. The two have revealed Kill or Be Killed, the second spine-tingling release in their The Future of Fear collection. This pulse-pounding illustrated prose one-shot from acclaimed author Peter Tieryas and visionary artist Mike Choi hits shelves and digital platforms on August 20.

In a world where your “friend” notification could be your death sentence, Kill or Be Killed imagines a tech dystopia where social media and AI collide with lethal consequences. When random people begin receiving mysterious messages that threaten the lives of their loved ones—unless they murder a stranger and livestream it for all to see—they become victims of a mysterious serial murderer known as the Friendship Killer. The perpetrator’s sinister game spreads like wildfire until one victim embarks on a search for the murderer that sets him down a twisted road of advanced surveillance tech, deepfake capabilities, and AI horror.

The 48-page novella blends page-turning prose with razor-sharp social commentary, brought chillingly to life through Mike Choi’s haunting illustrations that immerse readers in a near-future world that feels all too real. Following the buzzworthy debut of Look Out, which hit stores on May 7, Kill or Be Killed continues The Future of Fear anthology, a cross-platform horror initiative spanning comics, illustrated prose, and screen adaptations. Titles from the collection are already in development for film and television through AWA Studios and Vertigo Entertainment.

This Black Mirror-style anthology examines the rapid proliferation of technology, the cultural and political polarization of the country, and the technocrats that have driven us to such extremes of thought that we need to present the present as something… futuristic. Each of the five issues is a stand-alone tale with its own art team.
