Grief makes monsters of us all in Pretty Hate Machine

Revenge runs in the family… Mad Cave Studios has announced its latest horror mystery series, Pretty Hate Machine, a familiar tragedy unraveling in decaying rural America. Co-written by acclaimed writer, actor, producer, and director Ryan O’Nan and celebrated comics writer Tim Seeley, with art by Hank La Marca, colors by Berlin-based illustrator Roman Stevens, and letters by Dave Sharpe. Featuring issue #1 covers by Todor Hristov and Michael Gaydos, with a retailer incentive cover by Rod Reis.

Thomas is in so much pain. As if high school wasn’t hard enough, when his father is killed in a freak accident, and his mother begins to take refuge in the company of his uncle, Thomas is visited by a ghoulish kid named Luther with knives for hands and rows of teeth like an ancient shark who tells Thomas his father was murdered and that anything his mother and uncle tell him is a lie. To survive the night, enemies must become allies… Mad Cave Studios has announced Beneath—a gritty horror graphic novel from acclaimed showrunner and filmmaker Steven S. DeKnight and celebrated comics artist Michael Gaydos, with letters by Toben Racicot. Originally released as a comiXology Original, Beneath is a visceral story of survival, suspicion, and the terrifying unknown.

Deputy Sheriff Jess Delgado is tasked with transporting the sole survivor of a mysterious attack along the Texas-Mexico border to CoreCivil, a for-profit immigration detention center closing down due to widespread protests. Housing only a handful of remaining detainees and manned by a skeleton crew of disgruntled guards, the detention center becomes a desperate battleground when something otherworldly emerges from deep below the earth. Something that only fears the light. Deputy Delgado must pull together the guards and detainees—two groups that hate and fear each other—to survive the night. Adam Glass and Bernard Chang’s Blood Train pulls into Ninth Circle’s station this January

New York Times bestselling comic book writer and television showrunner Adam Glass is partnering with iconic comic book artist Bernard Chang to come aboard horror one-shot comic Blood Train, pulling into station this January, when it hits shelves. The extra-sized comic, which will be in magazine trim size, is a part of the newly launched Ninth Circle line of comics. The line is led by creators such as Glass, Garth Ennis, Marguerite Bennett, Joe Pruett, and Ram V, alongside founders Michael Bogner and David Stone. Ninth Circle will redefine genre storytelling, highlighting cutting-edge, original standalone stories that explore all of the dark avenues of the horror genre.

28 Days Later meets The Ruins in Blood Train, a high-stakes standalone horror story. After backpacking through Asia, a group of friends climb aboard the Siberian Express to start their journey home. Little do they know, they’ve bought a one-way ticket to hell, as one of them has been infected with a bioweapon that will turn them into a monster who will slaughter everyone on the train. And the bioweapon will start World War Three if it reaches its destination in Europe. Now, these friends must make a difficult choice: kill someone they love to save the world or die trying.

Blood Train #1 will be perfect bound, magazine trim size (8.5” x 10.875”), and feature a cardstock cover. It will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, January 29:

Brian Michael Bendis’ Jinxworld Heads to Dark Horse

Brian Michael Bendis brings his line of creator-owned titles, Jinxworld, to Dark Horse Comics. The partnership includes new series as well as the reintroduction of classic Jinxworld titles. Jinxworld and Dark Horse have announced the debut of the fiercely ambitious science-fiction odyssey: Joy Operations coming to comic shops in November.
