SDCC 2013: ComiXology’s Giveaways & Events

ComiXology has been building up to San Diego Comic-Con with their “Meet Your Makers” events, but that has been revealed to be a part of their “Take Comics Further” campaign. That’s their new ad campaign and tag line that will make its debut at SDCC and then to be taken globally. You can find the digital comics platform at booth #2547.

To celebrate the unveiling of the “Take Comics Further” ad campaign and the new tag line, each day at Comic-Con International the first 100 fans that come to the comiXology booth will receive a free t-shirt sporting one of the ad capmaign’s more humorous slogans.

The company is showing their commitment to expand the comic marketplace with this new campaign and the “Meet Your Makers” events that have lead up to it. The company is giving back to the comics community this year.

SDCC 2013: ComiXology Sponsors TR!CKST3R

ComiXology’s Meet Your Makers summer extravaganza continues with the announcement of comiXology’s sponsorship of the “The Pen and Drink – where artists are welcome to enjoy a drink while picking up the pen to draw an array of live models while listening to great tunes during San Diego Comic-Con 2013.

TR!CKST3R will be held at the East Village Tavern Bowl, located at 9th & Market in San Diego from July 17th to July 20th with “The Pen and Drink” happening every evening. ComiXology co-founder John D. Roberts will also be giving a talk during TR!CKST3R on Saturday, July 20th at 1-2pm on Digital Comics: Tips and Tricks.

ComiXology has become a champion of creator owned works with their launch of  comiXology Submit which debuted last March. It’s an easy to use self-publishing portal that enables independent comic book creators to reach comiXology’s global audience of comic fans.

Debuting in 2011, TR!CKST3R took the comic world by storm with their unique vision of a pop-up store with merchandise and events all supporting and promoting creator-owned work. Considered one of the top “places-to-be” during Comic-Con International, TR!CKST3R rapidly spawned it’s own brick and mortar store during their second year of existence. The permanent TR!CKST3R store can be found at 2631 Ashby Ave, Suite A, in Berkeley, California. The show within a show is one of my favorite aspects of SDCC.

SDCC 2013: The Blank Page Project Brought To You By ComiXology & The Hero Initiative

ComiXology’s Meet Your Makers summer extravaganza continues with “The Blank Page Project” charity event. The Hero Initiative has partnered with comiXology and creators Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner to host this fully catered 2-hour charity event where all fans are invited to watch creators fill “The Blank Page” – a 12 foot by 8 foot gigantic comic page that will auctioned off at a later date with proceeds going towards The Hero Initiative – a charity that helps creators in need.

“The Blank Page Project” charity event is open to all fans and creators. The event will take place on Thursday, July 18th from 5pm to 7pm during San Diego Comic-Con 2013 outside the Vela restaurant, which is located at the back of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel, a quick walk from the San Diego Convention Center.

The Hero Initiative is committed to helping creators in need and has done so for the past thirteen years. This event and auction will undoubtedly help the organization raise more money for the good work The Hero Initiative does.

“The Blank Page Project” and comiXology’s partnership with The Hero Initiative to raise money for comic creators in need is just one part of comiXology’s summer long Meet Your Makers event celebrating comic creators and the creation of comics.

Stay tuned for more Meet Your Makers announcements.
