Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

Al Capone (Black Panel Press) – The history of the famous mobster is explored here! As fans of mob stories, we’re pumped to check this out.

The Blackout Bombshell #1 (Massive Publishing) – After a night of drinking turned into a blank slate, Jack must put together what exactly he’s gotten himself into before he ends up in a world of trouble. Sounds like the type of detective story we enjoy.

Captain America #1 (Marvel) – It’s a new volume for Cap and a new creative team and we’re always excited to see what a new crew brings to the classic character.

Dark X-Men #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was a lot of fun, as much fun as Fall of X can be, and we’re excited and hoping the second issue brings the same.

Disney Villains: Hades #2 (Dynamite Entertainment) – The first issue was solid with a great look and great feel as it focuses on the overlooked and under appreciated Disney villain.

Green Lantern: War Journal #1 (DC Comics) – John Stewart gets his own series the the debut issue is a hell of a start.

Hexagon Bridge #1 (Image Comics) – Explorers Jacob and Elena Armlen find themselves trapped in a strange parallel dimension of elusive landscapes and shifting architecture inhabited by mischievous entities.

Investigators Vol. 7 All Tide Up (First Second) – This series is so much fun with over the top action and cool gadgets. It’s great for kids and adults alike!

Jungle Juice Vol. 1 (Yen Press/IZE Press) – It’s pretty much the X-Men but insect/human hybrids instead of mutants. And, it still works and is a hell of a lot of fun.

Predator vs. Wolverine #1 (Marvel) – Let’s be honest, this is a comic store debate in comic form.

Rare Flavours #1 (BOOM! Studios) – Discover the tantalizing tale of Rubin Baksh, a demonic Rakshasa with a down-to-earth dream of becoming the next Anthony Bourdain. The comic sounds pretty unique and with Ram V. writing and Filipe Andrade on art, we’re excited to check it out.

Rumpus Room #1 (AWA Studios) – Meet Bob Schrunk, technocrat billionaire, collector of bad art, and victim of a hideous skin condition that can only be treated with a highly illicit and definitely not FDA-approved face cream that must be…harvested. From human beings. It’s Mark Russell… that alone has us reading this.

So What’s Wrong Getting Reborn as a Goblin Vol. 3 (Yen Press) – The series has been a nice twist on the reincarnation story focused on how to build and organize a society.

Tomb Raider King Vol. 4 (Yen Press) – The volume wraps up one story line and kicks off a hell of a lot more. Fans of the series won’t want to miss this!

Traveling to Mars #8 (Ablaze) – Mark Russell and Roberto Meli’s series has been filled with emotion and heart… and some laughs and satire.

Wonder Woman #1 (DC Comics) – We’ve read the first issue and this is a game changer for status quo… it helps it’s really good too.

Harriet Tubman: Demon Slayer #1 is a solid start which should hook readers

Astrobots #5 wraps up the first arc but feels a little bit rushed

The clock is ticking for planet Earth and the race is on to find a new world capable of sustaining human life. New, sophisticated machine lifeforms called Astrobots are dispatched to scout far-flung worlds in the hope of crafting a new home.

On Colony World 1, a catastrophic power struggle forges a new – all-Astrobot – society, and presiding over this nascent civilization is Atlas, an evolved mech with a futureproof plan. A plan that does not include humankind.

The Plot Holes #1 is a decent start and interesting introduction to the world and concept

THE PLOT HOLES are a squad of fictional warriors who transport themselves into the pages of other books, using their unique skills to save the plots in order to stop them from being destroyed. And Cliff is their newest recruit, a comic creator who’s just realized his world isn’t real-in fact, it’s a complete fiction that literally exists inside a novel.

Avengers Inc. #1 (Marvel) – Janet Van Dyne leads a new team solving mysteries as they hunt a killer.

Batman and Robin #1 (DC Comics) – Damian and Batman are back together again facing a new villain that watches from the shadows.

Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #1 (DC Comics) – Rafael Grampa’s twisted vision of both the Dark Knight and the city of Gotham. Nuff said.

Coda #1 (BOOM! Studios) – Coda is back as the return of magic is teased and prophecies of paradise abound. It’ll be interesting to see how well the series balances new and returning readers.

Daredevil #1 (Marvel) – It’s a new era for Daredevil with a new creative team.

Dark Ride #8 (Image Comics) – It’s the end of the latest arc and it’s the showdown between Halloween and Sam as the winner will control the future of the Dante family and Devil Land! We’re loving this horror series.

Incredible Hulk #4 (Marvel) – This new run has been fantastic taking the character deep in his horror roots.

Kill More #1 (IDW Publishing) – The first issue is a fun one about a run down city filled with killers and an overworked cop. Check out our review!

Mech Cadets #2 (BOOM! Studios) – We loved the first issue of the returning series which balanced fun and action and welcomed new readers.

Negaduck #1 (Dynamite) – We love Dynamite’s Darkwing Duck series so more set in that world is all right by us. Let’s get evil!

Waller vs. Wildstorm #3 (DC Comics/DC Black Label) – The series has been an interesting blending of traditional DC and Wildstorm for adults.

We Are Not Strangers (Abrams Comicarts) – Based on a true story about Jewish immigrants and their relationship with Japanese-Americans during World War II.

Werewolf By Night #1 (Marvel) – Jack Russell and Elsa Bloodstone need to team up to stop the sacrifice of a young girl by some monsters.

You’ve Been Cancelled #4 (Mad Cave Studios) – The series has been a fun mix of action, violence, and satire.

Batman #137 (DC Comics) – The opening chapter to “Gotham War” set things up nicely but didn’t excite, maybe the second chapter will?

Birds of Prey #1 (DC Comics) -Kelly Thompson makes her DC debut with this new take on the classic team!

Black Panther #4 (Marvel) – The series has taken the character and brought him more to the street level like the underrated “Man Without Fear” run. It’s been a nice refreshing take on the character.

Blue Beetle #1 (DC Comics) – A new ongoing series as Jaime Reyes joins the “Dawn of DC”!

Dona Quixote: Rise of the Knight (Henry Holt) – Middle-schooler by day. Monster hunter by (k)night. Lucia Castillo dreams of being a hero like her grandfather. A new take on the classic tale.

Fire and Ice: Welcome to Smallville #1 (DC Comics) – The duo are back and been sent to Smallville after a disastrous mission.

Hunt for the Skinwalker #1 (BOOM! Studios) – Head to the infamous remote ranch in the Uinta Basin that has been the most significant nexus for the paranormal.

Last Exit to Feral: Little Town. Underground. (Holiday House) – The first volume was a fun horror series for kids and we’re expecting more of the entertaining same from this.

Kill Your Darlings #1 (Image Comics) – Rose pretends to be in a magical land of her own creation byt the line between fantasy and reality disappears.

Parker Girls #10 (Abstract Studios) – The solid action series wraps up and we’re hoping the tech billionaire gets everything he deserves.

Project Cryptid #1 (AHOY Comics) – A new anthology series with some amazing talent. This is one to not be missed.

Reflection (Massive Publishing) – Detective Lorena Baffo dreams of a horrific murder. As the dream ends, she looks up to see herself reflected in glass, with the victim’s blood in her hands.

Tear Us Apart #1 (Dark Horse) – Deep in the Canadian wilderness, a vicious cult, dedicated to an ideology of pain, trains children to become deadly assassins. In the midst of this world of cruelty, two teenagers break the cardinal rule-by falling in love.

This Country: Searching For Home in Very Rural America (Princeton Architectural Press) – Before Navied Mahdavian moved with his wife and dog in November of 2016 from San Francisco to an off-the-grid cabin in rural Idaho, he had never fished, gardened, hiked, hunted, or lived in a snowy place. But there, he could own land, realize his dream of being an artist, and start a family-the Millennial dream.

Sean Gordon Murphy’s The Plot Holes sells out and gets a second printing

Due to the overwhelming response to the release of its debut original series, Sean Gordon Murphy’s The Plot Holes, Massive Publishing has announced it will take the book to a limited second printing. The decision comes as reorder and sales reports for the first printing, which featured cover art from an all-star list of creators (including Walt Simonson, Dan Panosian, Jon Sommariva, and Matteo Scalera), indicate Diamond Comic Distributors’ stock will be fully sold out over the weekend. Plot Holes #1 is the first creator-owned book from writer/artist Sean Gordon Murphy since his Image Comics series Tokyo Ghost with Rick Remender. With reorder demand for the book still high, the Massive Publishing team is sending the book immediately to a second printing.

The second print features brand new cover artwork by Kim Jacinto, a star on the rise at Marvel and DC, as well as a regular contributor to Massive Publishing. Kim brings his signature style to the Plot Holes characters with this Limited to 5000 copy release and 1:10 incentive ratio “Black & White” variant. The preorder on Previewsworld (JUL238654) is open now with a final order cutoff date of Monday, September 4th, giving retailers the chance to pair their orders with the Plot Holes #2 FOC closing the same day. Both the second print of Issue one and the anticipated second issue will release in stores on September 27th.
