Marvel Snap Impacted by ByteDance TikTok Ban

With the clock ticking down, all apps from ByteDance in the United States are currently unavailable. The “TikTok Ban” also includes the popular game, Marvel Snap. The legsilation passed by last Congress and signed by President Biden forces ByteDance to sell its US assets or shut down which, while TikTok was the main app mentioned, also includes Marvel Snap. ByteDance is accused of passing along data to the Chinese government and claimed to be a national security threat due to misinformation. It’s a similar scenario that occurs here in the US with Google, Meta, Twitter, and data brokers all hoovering our personal data and passing it along to our own government and at the same time disseminating misinformation and lies. So, it’s not so much the data and lies, it’s just the US government and US corporations are the only ones allowed to do it.

Marvel Snap is a digital collectible card game developed by Second Dinner and published by Nuverse. It launched in October 2022.

Nuverse is owned by ByteDance though ByteDance has stated that it’s “retreating from gaming.” People are receiving similar messages as those on TikTok that the app is currently unavailable and it’s currently unavailable to download as well.

Currently, searches for “VPN” have spiked as the ban has gone into place.
